Rare Breast Cancer

Hi everyone I have recently been diagnosed with Encapsulated Papillary Carcinoma, apparently a rare cancer of the breast, mainly seen in post menopausal women in mid 60’s. I have had a lumpectomy with clear margins and am having sentinel lymph node biopsy next week, followed by possible radiation and hormone blocking medication for the rest of my life.
Just wondering if anyone else out there has had this diagnosis. Mine was initially picked up from routine mammogram but presented as small cysts, and even after biopsies were taken it wasn’t until lumpectomy sample that official diagnosis was made.

Sorry to see you join us here @Kerry58 I've done a search of our site & can't see anyone else with your diagnosis - but how good that they found it & you've now had your surgery, with clear margins & on the road to recovery. Interesting that your sentinel Node biopsy is next week - normally it is done with your surgery!
Wow - so good that they did the surgery, even when the biopsies didn't show as positive! It sounds particularly nasty xx
I hope you are going OK & recovering well .... if you have any questions, whack them up here, along with your
sentinel node results - and hopefully we'll be able to make this journey a bit easier for you
take care xx2 -
Hi Arpie, thanks for the comment. Surgeon didn’t want to do lymph nodes to start off with as she didn’t want to go too drastic, not knowing what this particular cancer was. She still feels that it hasn’t gone to lymph nodes but we are going ahead for peace of mind. Apparently it is a “Good Cancer” to have (if there is such a thing } as it is very small and very treatable, fingers crossed. Xx2
