Hi all. I had a DMX DTI 4 months ago and have found a lump near my nipple. I know it is more than likely fat necrosis however has anyone found a lump that was a reoccurred? I was diagnosed IDC and DCIS grade 1 stage 1

Hi @Newgrandma .... sorry to see you join us here .... I would suggest that you contact your Breast Care Nurse today, who may be able to see you asap to make sure it is not just a stitch popping to the surface (it happened to me.) She could also set up a prompt appointment with your surgeon if she feels you need it .... it may need a biopsy.

I had some 'stuff' under my nipple after my surgery (found in my MG/US the following year) & it turned out to be fat necrosis - and the biopsy confirmed that it wasn't a concern.

In the mean time, feel free to jump onto this thread that has a lot of info on many BC related things, including some Tick Sheets on your mental and physical recovery, to take with you to your appointments, as sometimes it is easier to show them a written 'report' than to talk about it xx

Thank you for your reply, when I had my surgery I didn’t get given a breast care nurse. I do have my oncologist appointment on Thursday hopefully he can give me a referral to have it checked

That's good @Newgrandma .... they'll probably check it out too, but always worth another US at the very least and possible biopsy, to be sure, to be sure ;)  xx

Wishing you the best results. Can you please tell me what DTI stands for? With your surgery 4 months ago, there would have been pathology testing on all of the tissue removed. Hopefully you would have had those results at a Post Op appointment, and that they were good?

Thank you, DTI is direct to implants
I had clear margins and the dr was happy I didn’t have chemo or radiation

Thanks NewGrandma, I'd heard of that, but I hadn't seen it abbreviated.
I think you are going to be fine.
But it is always great to check these things out.
We always need to advocate for ourselves, to get the best.

The Dr isn’t worried scar tissue or fat necrosis 😊
