Hey everyone, 1st time posting and maybe a bit of a dumb question but...
I am having a seed marker popped into cancer next Monday 26/08. The breast care nurse told me to limit arm movement and no heavy lifting until the lumpectomy on the 2nd sept as the marker can move.
There are no light duties at my work (Bunnings) other than walking the aisles, should I need to take time off?

Hi @geewizz24,
sorry to hear you’ve joined our club. I think if you have sick or annual leave, now might be the time to take it. Yes, to limit movement, but also to limit risk of infection pre-op.The BCNA and Cancer Council are both great for info & counselling if you need it. I highly recommend both.Do you have income protection insurance with your super? If so, now would be a good time to start the ball rolling in making a claim.I’m 4 months in to my journey, have had 2 surgeries, and have just begun chemo. It has surprised me how much time I have needed to take off, so anything you can do now to help yourself later on is worth doing I think.Sing out if there is anything else you need advice with. I’m a 44 yr old mum and registered nurse (not oncology though), so I am navigating things from the other side. I also have a lot of time on my hands at the moment, waiting for my next round of chemo. All the very best xo

Thanks so much Nat, I'm pretty sure I cancelled the super insurance because I literally "never get sick" 🙄 there's no BC in the family and I breast fed for six years so this never remotely entered my mind. I do have about 10 weeks sick leave and maybe a month holidays hopefully it will be enough.
Best of everything with your treatment 💓💓1 -

It's a so and so that you find yourself here! Rest assured no question is dumb! Early days, head spinning, lots of new terminology and the how did I end up in this predicament!
The Rollis seed is crucial for surgery! Take notice of what the Breast care nurse says.
If your workplace hasn't any light duties suitable then you may have to consider time off.
Once through surgery, pathology results will follow and give a clear indication of type and treatment!
Take care
