Sadly, the original Otis Getaway House (from where the whole idea of providing a break for those with BC started ...) burnt down last week in Bendigo.

The Otis foundation was established in honour of Judy Burley, who died at the age of 36 after a battle with breast cancer.

Ms Burley wanted other people with breast cancer to experience the peace and comfort she enjoyed at Bramare — the dream home she and her husband, Andrew Barling, built.

Luckily the 6 guests staying at the time, all got out unharmed, but the house was a write off  :(

Chief executive officer Claire Culley said the loss of Mandurang property Bramare last week was big - they are looking for another local property until Bramare is repaired.

For those unaware of Otis - they have 'getaway houses' in every state that are made available to those who've had Breast Cancer & finished their 'active treatment' .... check below for info on the Foundation & all the available properties ....

Sad to read but fortunately no injuries
Lots of us have enjoyed the hospitality of the Otis Foundation and the article reminds us how this charity came about!

It is certainly a blow to the foundation. I stayed at Bramare with my family in 2014 and we had a really wonderful time there. It was so restorative to spend time in nature and enjoy Bendigo’s charms. This is a tremendous charitable foundation for BC women and families.
