Guys,
Have been unable to drive and found out about this service which is manned by volunteers.  If you need to use the service its a small fee but conditions do apply.  They are also looking for volunteer drivers a couple of days a week.  Gets you out of the house and you meet some fabulous folk in your community.
Cheers
Karen C

Some hospitals have notices up in relation to the local assisted transport services, often provided by Uniting Care.  I saw one in the hospital's orthopaedic waiting area.

You are right, summerhill38, this service is often managed by a local community organisation.  My neighbour uses one.  It costs her $7 per trip. The driver is not allowed to assist (i.e. no personal contact) and is not allowed to venture from the destination (i.e. they cannot stop at a shop on the route) but it is still a great service. If anyone needs transport it is worth asking !  There are so many ''quiet'' services out there and just being in need is the criteria.
