Nerve damage/ache/pain?

After 4 years since lumpectomy I have had aches on my ribs and on side of breast.  Doctor said it is nerve pain.   My GP says that after 4 years it couldn't possibly be nerve pain.  Conflicting advice from health professionals.  Anyone else been diagnosed with nerve pain/damage but not until years later?

Hi @Kez.Za  I had lumpectomy about a year ago followed by radiation.  Occasionally, like today. I get a dull ache in my ribs - enough to bring out the heat pack or cream, to alleviate it. I have actually wondered if it is more from the radiation as well as recovering nerves.. Both long and short term side affects are after both treatments so I sit in your space of "wondering".  I will ask my surgeon when I see them in a couple of weeks.  Hard to know what is what sometimes.. the joys of putting the jigsaw puzzle together without the overall picture to guide.. Take Care.

I too get rib pain and have read is a longer term side effect of radiotherapy but mine is complicated by a pre existing osteoporotic fracture as I had osteoporosis diagnosed some years before bc.

Yes I too get rib pain. It has been 5 years since my lumpectomy & radiotherapy treatment. The joys!

As long at it has been thoroughly checked then accept it is nerve pain. However if things alter, pain worsens etc then go back for review.
