This is a jam-packed update, so sit back and relax!

Please
welcome @Kingy girl@Kferris, @smez, @Lilania, @shombo, @kennybella, @angeb, @rosa and all our new members to the online network. Welcome back @Vix, @Lar4, @wenno05.

Community highlights

There has been lots of conversation this week in the online network about radiation, mastectomy and reconstruction. Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping support other members with their questions. In case you didn't know, we have a private group in the online network dedicated to this topic: Choosing breast reconstruction.

I'm sure you will all agree it's really nice to see some of our members popping back online to let us know how they are doing.

This is Colette Haymes: mother of two, loving wife, and, as
of this Sunday, BRAVE SKYDIVER! This weekend, Colette is jumping out of a plane
in Barwon Heads to raise money for BCNA to support all Australians affected by
breast cancer. It’s her way of saying thank you for the support she received
from BCNA when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012.

News & events

The
past twelve months were a fruitful time for breast cancer research. We
hope the discoveries being made will provide hope and inspiration to all
those living with breast cancer. Here are the top breast cancer discoveries on 2016.

Have you shared your personal experience with breast cancer in our national survey? BCNA’s
Member Survey aims to identify the needs and issues people face when
diagnosed with breast cancer. It will also help identify gaps in
treatment options and support across Australia. The
Member Survey was made possible through funding by Sussan, and BCNA has
eight $100 Sussan gift vouchers to be won. Complete the survey for your chance to win.

Together
with Palliative Care Australia (PCA), BCNA is proud to launch the
online Palliative Care Toolkit for people living with metastatic breast
cancer.

There are only five more places left on our Tassie Inspired Adventures Trek! On this
seven-day adventure, you will experience everything Tassie’s east coast
has to offer – pristine coastlines, captivating wildlife and delicious,
world-renowned cheese and wine. Witness the striking colours of the
Bay of Fires and the white sands of Wineglass Bay, and discover
Australia’s convict past at Port Arthur. You will cruise to Bruny Island
and Maria Island, walk among some of the world’s tallest trees in
Tasmania’s temperate rainforests, and discover the bustling port town of
Hobart. The adventure begins on 25th November 2017!

As a man who has had breast cancer, the worst part is the feeling of isolation. Giles reveals what it’s like to have a double mastectomy. (Image-metro.co.uk.)

Breast reconstruction decision making tool BRECONDA  is having a positive impact in the community!

If you haven't visited the Creative Corner lately, this is what you have missed out on! We just love this drawing by @InkPetal.

On that note, I'm going to tell the people that matter the most just how much they mean to me! Let's spread some more love around.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I find it inspiring to read about the diverse range of things that people are doing to improve things for us! From the wonderful creativity of @InkPetal and many others involved in the Creative Corner conversation, to research breakthroughs and fundraising challenges. It helps to know that so much is being done, all the time, in so many ways.  <3:)

Great to see Breconda is now up and running. Looks like a very helpful tool and practical guide. So thankful for BCNA's support in developing and making it accessible through BCNA website.
