Friday Update
First, I need to give a big thank you to all our wonderful regular members who held down the fort while the BCNA office was closed. Although I checked in every day (I can’t help it), I could relax in the knowledge that our new platform would keep spammers out and that our regular members would be there to support our newbies. We had a surge in traffic, registrations, and new users. So, believe me when I tell you that your help was much appreciated.
We have more than 80 new members since 1st of Decemeber. Please welcome @Shassy, @Mimi, @Jannr, @Marvin, @midget, @Amazonia, @Nads, and the rest of our new members. Let’s also welcome back some returning
members like @donnafisher and @robynvhi.
Community highlights
Here are some interesting conversations you might have
missed:
- @”Ad Lib” offended
her in-laws. - @”Vivianne Vanessa” is only
31. - @Lisa50 has started
swearing. There are worst things you could do. - There are a lot of famous
breast cancer survivors.
If you’re a leader or member of a group, please remember to
check your group. There may be members or questions pending. Group members
don’t receive notifications like we do in the rest of the forum. You can see all the groups here.
And speaking of groups, we’ve got a new (old) one this week:
Young women. Pre-menopausal women face some unique challenges. Our members in
their 20s, 30s, and 40s have a new space to gather and discuss their
experiences with breast cancer at a younger age.
Coming in 2017
A new year brings new opportunities and we’re looking
forward to improving the online network for you. We’ve been really happy with
the new platform. The feedback from you has been fantastic. But there’s always
room for improvement.
We want to make the groups more visible. We know that many
of you are reading this on a mobile phone or tablet so we want to improve your
mobile experience. We know we have a lot of quiet readers and we’d like to be
better at reaching out to you. It’s important to us that the BCNA online
network is diverse and reflects different kinds of breast cancer experiences
including those of young women, people living with metastatic breast cancer,
men, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
We also want to help our members become more knowledgeable
and comfortable with our ever changing and expanding digital technologies. We
want to help you maintain your safety and privacy online. We’ll be reviewing
user names to make sure people aren’t using their first and last names or their
emails as user names.
And finally, @Ann-Marie_BCNA and I also want to slip away
from the office more. We’ve really enjoyed meeting you at various BCNA events
and we’re looking forward to more of that this year.

I noticed that you did say Friday update on Thursday - at this time of year I have to think about what day it is! What a great update and hopefully some of us will get to meet some of the staff as you spend time away from the office at various forums et cetera
I appreciate all the work you do
Take care and don't get sunburnt if you head out for a walk during your lunchbreak!! Yes it is sunny in Melbourne!
