Hello everyone,
As the year draws to a close and we take time with our families and loved ones, I would like to say thank you to all our wonderful online network members.

It has been a big year at BCNA. BCNA held 14 information forums and I’m glad to see that online network members like @Scared Mum and @wendy 55 were able to attend and found them useful.
We also launched an updated version of Hope & Hurdles, our kit for people living with metastatic breast cancer, and we are so grateful for our online network members that contributed to this and other resources; your voices are so important.
Together with Fernwood, Revitalise with BCNA became a rolling program. Getting regular exercise during and following your breast cancer treatment can have many benefits and we were thrilled to see members like @Karen in Darwin and @Cate64 taking their fitness to new levels.

And, of course, we moved the online network to a new platform. Thank you for your patience during the transition and for all your great feedback.
BCNA’s advocacy work helped to ensure that a subcutaneous form of Herceptin was listed on the PBS, meaning some women can now have Herceptin as an injection under the skin rather than through an IV drip. We also helped to have the eligibility for tamoxifen extended to women who are at increased risk of developing breast cancer. Large clinical trials have found tamoxifen to be effective in reducing the risk of women developing breast cancer, giving these women an option other than having their breasts removed. We are also working closely with the Australian Government and other stakeholders to change drug approval processes in Australia so that cancer drugs are available here more quickly than they have been in the past.
As we reflect upon the achievements of this year, we also look forward to the challenges and opportunities that next year holds. We continue to strive towards better care and support for all Australians affected by breast cancer.
On behalf of all BCNA, I wish you and your family a safe and merry holiday season.
Regards
Christine Nolan
