Very good advice from a great source. I was a patient at the Southport Icon Cancer Centre and could not speak more highly of the care I received there. All of the above was helpful from actual patients. So glad you posted it.

Hi Marisa, Almost 10 years ago I was diagnosed with TNBC, stage 2A grade 3. My treatment was in Queensland so your cousin might want to talk with someone from Melbourne. I had a double mastectomy, 3 months of weekly chemo, 28 days of radiation and then a hysterectomy. My team threw everything at it! In April it will be 10 years. There is a TNBC section on this site where your cousin can find lots of information from women who have been there. You are a lovely cousin. Best wishes to you both.

Re: COVID 19 jab
Once again family have cancelled their plans to come north from Sydney. It's been over a year now - almost two. Like @Afraser, I had the covid jab with no ill effects whatsoever and have the second in 2 weeks time. My GP recommended having the flu shot first, then waiting 2 weeks before Astra Zeneca. I agree with @arpie about the holidays! Hope you continue to have no side effects - frankly the flu jab made me more tired then the AZ!

Re: Any regrets after going flat?
Hi @Abbydog, I opted to go flat 12 years ago after a double mastectomy. I have never regretted my choice for one minute. The surgery was on Monday, went home on Thursday, drains out on Saturday. Since then I wear Amoena bras for special occasions, but usually go bra-free most days. I was a c/D cup before. Lightweight scarves over tank tops with a shirt/jacket are my go-to items, and there is a real sense of freedom as far as movement is concerned. The scar is a very fine line across my chest, barely noticeable. It is very much a personal choice. I was over 60 and my husband was 100% behind my choice. I wish you all the best whatever you decide. xx

Re: Webcast - Managing your fear of breast cancer recurrence 11 February 2021
This webcast was great in all respects and addressed the fear we all have from time to time about recurrence. I thought the tools for coping were so useful, and it was personal, not just clinical. Thank you BCNA for putting the webcast on demand.

Huge relief @Deanne - just found your post today and read it all from start to finish. So happy for you that all was well. I have never regretted having a double, both for peace of mind and for balance in clothes - if I don't want a bra I don't wear one! It has been a long time since we met here online and I hope all is going well for you and your husband. My husband has recovered well from a stroke 18 months ago, and is now walking 3-4 kms daily again. Being a carer took a lot of time, so I am not visiting the site very often these days! Very best wishes and a big hug! Michelle xxx

@KIp - like you and Paula and Margie I was also a TNBC Stage 2 Grade 3, back in 2012. It is always good to hear stories from women with the same diagnosis who have been through the same treatment as you and are survivors! We don't have the drugs, but chemo and radiation and surgery are powerful allies, and I have been in remission for nearly 8 years. Take it one day at a time, and keep a file of all your tests, results, treatments and appointments as life gets very busy. Your beautiful children are the best incentive you could have, and the women here are the kindest, most supportive you would find anywhere. Chemo is doable. Just take things as quietly as you can and stay strong. Big hugs. Michelle_R
