Memories
Yesterday I had major abdominal surgery in the same operating theatre where I had my lumpectomy on 12 November 2015. The experience brought back all sorts of memories of that time. I still find it strange I am tackling a whole new disease now just 3 years later. Breast cancer has been overtaken by Achalasia. Surprisingly,…

Packing for hospital
Hi all you lovely people, I am newly diagnosed 15th Feb invasive lobular cancer, have had all the tests as usual and am due for surgery this Thursday. I am quiet numb from the diagnosis, like everyone, this wasn't supposed to happen to me. I didn't have the best year last year, caring for my 24yo daughter who suffers from…

Numb & painful arm post axillary dissection
hi! At the beginning of Aug I had a lumpectomy, reduction & lift and sentinel node biopsy. I recovered really well from it but the biopsy showed cancer in the sentinel node so last week I had an axillary node clearance. Under arm is numb - which is weird but ok. But the skin between my elbow and under arm feels super…

Apparently ok to tell someone incorrectly they have stage IV cancer
Got the decision back from my complaint regarding my previous surgeon. For those of you that don’t know my previous surgeon told me the day after my mastectomy, and before receiving pathology results that I had stage IV cancer and was in the fight of my life (his exact words). I was sent away as a blubbering mess with a…

Disappointed, crushed, depression setting in!
With my diagnosis 5 weeks ago, I began my journey, High grade DCIS with 10mm close to my lymph nodes. I met with the surgeon 3 weeks ago, then following week the plastic surgeon then today again saw the surgeon to get my dates for surgery. The Dr examined me, explained the surgery, then drops a bomb shell he can't do the…

Surgery Completed :)
Hi all. Just wanted to thank you lovely ladies for all the help and reassurance before my surgery. As an update, I went in for a lumpectomy on Wednesday. It was a very long day as we were told to arrive at 8am and my surgery did not take place until 6 pm but I am very glad it is all over. I had 6 lymph nodes removed and…

New at this
Hi everyone, I was called in for a follow up at the Breastscreen clinic in Canberra in early January 2019 and officially diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma grade 1 shortly after. Waiting around for the surgeon's appointment has been hell and the more I read, the more terrified I have become. I finally had the…

Six months post lumpectomy check-up
Hello beautiful ladies, it's been a long time since I posted a discussion on here around the time I was starting chemo. Since then I have finished chemo -while not exactly pleasant it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I have completed 30 rounds of radiation therapy (I was very lucky, I was only mildly pink). I…

Strange itch.
Many years ago I had axillary clearance with a mastectomy. Today I have the weirdest itch. I am numb where my lymph noes were removed so I cannot scratch the itch, even though it is so very itchy.
