Hi from a newbie
Hi, I’m Helen and part one of my journey has flown by. Last year was a difficult year personally, so this year I decided it was time for ‘rebuilding’ - on my list was to go and have my first mammogram. I went to the Rose Clinic in David Jones for a mammogram in July, thinking nothing of it - then got a call to attend…

Recently diagnosed
Hi all I am new here and while would have preferred not to know about this network, I have found comfort and such helpful advice in the My Journey resources and these posts. I am a 64YO wife, mother and Nanna who loves my job caring for young people. I was diagnosed with TNBC on 20 July, following a mammogram. The shock…

Totally confused after seeking second opinion
Hi my dear virtual friends, I have Hormones positives and Her2 negative. Grade 3 and Stage 3(Tumor size 35 mm). Surgeon A: Treatment plan Option 1: 6 months chemo ( neoadjjuvant), if tumor size shrinks > lumpectomy. If it doesn’t shrink > mastectomy > radiotherapy (will have to take Tamoxifen/AI) option 2: mastectomy >…

Unexpected new adventure
This so wasn't what I was expecting at 58. This year has been full of health issues. Thought I was done. Then my boobs go "hold my beer"! Process to diagnosis full of snafus. Up to and including finding out during a phone consult :( Early stage BC. Lump I found in one, became cancer in both. PET scan clear elsewhere. HER2+…

Trying to absorb the shock and fear
Hi 👋 I’m not sure how you introduce yourself to new friends under these circumstances. Boy this happens fast. From lump, to scan, to FNA, to biopsy, mammogram, MRI and blood work last Thursday to today being told at 46, fit triathlete non-smoker etc blah blah blah that I have grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. It’s…

New mum struggles just got more challenging
Hi everyone! It’s lovely to meet you all despite this being the location. I was officially diagnosed on Tuesday but I’ve suspected it was breast cancer for over a week since the mood at my biopsy seemed urgent (and extremely sympathetic). I’m 34 years old and first time mum to an awesome little 11 month old boy. I’ve been…

Stage 1 hormone sensitive to Stage IV
Diagnosed last week with stage 1, hormone sensitive BC in my left breast after I came across a lump. I am 41 with 2 little sons, 4 & 6- it was a massive shock. After CT, bone scans & MRIs this week, my diagnosis has now changed to stage IV oligometastatic BC after finding it had spread to one vertebrae. To say I’m…

New to the club I didn't want to join!
Hi everyone. As the title says, I'm new here! Id rather not be, but am thankful for safe spaces like this. I was recalled after some abnormal results on my first mammogram & after a morning of more scans was told it was likely cancer so biopsies and ultrasound were done, then 2 days later it was confirmed to be Invasive…

need to connect
Hi all I was diagnosed with Early BC on 1 Aug and had my surgery last Friday 11 Aug. Am home now feeling sore, tired and still overwhelmed. Most of all I feel guilty that I can't look after my family and do my job. I know I need help but I just don't have ability to ask for it. I don't know whether what I'm doing is right.…
