waiting for the biopsy result after lumpectomy

I had lumpextomy and sentinel node biopsy on 7/8 at Mater. All happened so fast after I received recall for beast screening and biopsy result on 30/7.

so far everything is working fine.

I'm anxious about the sentinel node biopsy result which is coming out next Tuesday. I feel that I have to prepare for the worst so that I won't feint if it happens.

I'm checking about cold cap when getting chemo.

But cold cap is only available at Mater hospital, as it is a private hospital, I think it'll be very expensive.

  • Hi, I can help you with the grey hair, I have the same problem, but I found the solution at organicbeautyworld.com.au they have a product called Surya Henna Cream, which is a vegetable dye that covers grey hair, it comes in all different colours it is a fantastic product, that has no nasties that a lot of the other products have. It is very conditioning as well. It washes out gradually so you dont get a line of regrowth. I  am going to keep on using it afterwards as well.

  • Hi Lilliekatt,

I did not use a cold cap(not offered) but did use cold gloves and cold foot coverings during my treatment with Docetaxel.  This was offered free with chemo treatment at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney.  I did not have any problems with nails.  But did loose my hair during the earlier treatment with FEC.

Good Luck with your results and I think it's best to not worry yet about treatment that you may not need if you can..

  • Thank you Tonya! I try to be normal and my feeling can be little up and down. I'm OK. But it is tough. It is really nice that there are people who understand what I fell now!

  • Sorry to hear you are  on the dreaded bc ride but glad you've come through surgery so well. Waiting for pathology results can do your head in for sure. Yes,it's good to prepare yourself for the worst but still hope for the best. If your lymph nodes are clear then you feel like you've won the lottery.Don't think too far ahead cos you may not need chemo.I didn't have it with my first bout of breast cancer - just the lumpectomy, full node clearance and radiation. Good luck for next Tuesday for clear margins and clear nodes.
