2.5 weeks post Lumpectomy and SNB
Hi just wondering if anyone can help me in regards to feeling quite sore still from the lumpectomy and there are 3 quite thick fibres/tendons running from my SNB scar down towards my nipple that really hurt. I know I may have been rather optimistic but everyone seemed to think having a lumpectomy I would be back running and biking etc within a week, whereas I would be in so much pain if I ran with my boob the way it is now. I am normally a 12DD and have lost the bottom part of my boob by about 3.5cm , I have always worn very supportive bras so I have been wearing them. There is no redness or infection , still some bruising and blue dye. My inner arm is doing the weird chafe sort of feeling and a bit of pins and needles in hand. I have been walking on the beach most days but is anyone similar and remembers how long it took to get back to running and riding or swimming? Or have the weird things running down boob?

I just had a brilliant massage who is also a nurse and she has worked with cording before so I am going to keep that up to help also. Yes I am on the sweaty Sunny Coast are you close Ruth?

Wonderful news! Yay for you :)
About the exercise thing, I ended up walking..a lot. And even a fast long walk is safe. Are you north of Brisbane? Crazy at least 30 every day here lately..sticky. Gross. Been walking at night.
Let us know how you're going x

Hi Ruth Bird, sorry it isn't posting under your reply. Thank you so much I went to doc today and he said there is no infection and hopefully the cording will calm down soon and yep no running till I see the physio. Our beach is being hammered by blue bottles at the moment so I will have to wait for a swim. My BCN did send the bra and I love it. My results have been good, the margins were clear and no cancer in the lymph nodes so I don't have chemo and start radiation in a few weeks.

Thank you so much , my lovely BCN dod send me the Berlei bra and its great just a bit hot in Qld at the moment so using old sports bras with wire out to rotate at the moment plus at the start I found I needed fresh air on my bits but I only did that lying down for an hour or two so as not strain tge stitches. I have been doing my exercises and thank you for the reminder of the Dvd I had totally forgot about it. My doc said all the cording under arm and through the blue boob will settle soon and yep no running till I see the physio
Thanks again

I so understand the buzz factor and my doctor said this morning I have to wait till I see the physio in 2 weeks aggghhh , my hubby set up my bike on the trainer yesterday and that was good but nothing beats the real thing. I think the lack of endorphins from not doing the above is not helping either and I know I should be happy I get the chance to ride and run again but its the thought of all that hard work leaving and all that cortisol stress tummy fat taking over (I can't say this to so many people as they then think I am ungreatful and lucky) Have you started Tamifoxen? My doc said it is cording on my breast as well and said it will settle as well. I think I freaked out as there seems to be more pain now that a week after op. I am allergic to most strong pain killers but have been able to manage on nurofen and panadol.
Thank you for replying

Thank you so much I went to my doctor this morning and he said it looks good no infection and all the cording will settle in a few months (I have 2 under my arm pit, 3 running from my arm pit to my nipple and 3 under my breast to my rib cage) I also have removed underwires from old sports bra as the berlei one is great but just so hot for QLD and I needed another fresh bra at night.
I see the physio in 2 weeks and my Doc said no running until I see them dam it but then it would probably hurt so much now if I did.
Thank you once again
Hi Lynda,
Yes it sounds like cording.....mine ran from under my arm ( i had positive node axilliary clearance as well as lumpectomy 15/1 and re excision and the added bonus of a drain) I also had neuralgia all the way down the back of my arm. This is quite common as they have interfered with all of the nerve endings in that area...I still get weird nipple sensation and pinching after all this time....and i still have a blue boob too!
I can't stress enough the importance of doing the post op exercises! They have become an everyday habit! My arm is just now come good, with a little cording left in my inner wrist and I still am numb under my arm and along the top back half of my arm. If you feel you are struggling with the cording, ask to see a physio....
I wish i could get a comfy bra! (i'm 14HH) it's impossible to find a post op bra in my size so I have made do by taking the wires out of an existing bra, which doesn't do much for the supporting of my boobs! I cannot go braless! My size has however saved most of my breast for now, as my tumour was 7cm...
As for running etc...take the advice of your Dr, you will be tender on the inside of your breast for a while......Of course any concerns should be addressed with your team or BCN.
Love and light for easy recovery and beautiful days
