Hi @Pattie - I would not only talk with your bc surgeon but most definitely the oncologist. He/she is a medical oncologist and so their speciality is medicine and the prescribing of it.
Perhaps do a little bit of research - or lots of - and arm yourself with questions - none of them are silly.
Being informed is a good thing and knowledge is power. Perhaps you could have a look at the clinical information on it online.
I would also speak with your GP.
As @Iserbrown said not everybody gets all of the side effects that have been mentioned above.
I was on tamoxifen for several years and also took mine in the evening - before going to bed.
Some of the symptoms that I got included "pre-menstrual" like symptoms for some time, hot flushes and some irritability (or a lot if you ask my husband !).
