Tamoxifen ....

Hi everybody,

I'm on Tamoxifen for 4 weeks now.

The hot flushes getting better. That's good.

But does anybody also recognize a dizzy head (from time to time) and joint aches as side effects ?

Thanks.

Michaela

  • Hi Jacqui,

    thank you for your message.

Good to hear that I'm not the only one !

If something does not feel 'normal' with my body I get so worried since I started this BC journey.

But as you mentioned .... a lot of water could help ... I'm a very bad 'drinker' ... will try this now.

Wish you a wonderful weekend and I send you a big hug !

  • Hi Michaela, I have been on Tamoxifen for around 3 weeks. I too have been getting hot flushes on and off. But like you I certainly am getting the dizzy light headed feeling. I have it most of the time and then bad spinning on and off. I spoke to my gp earlier this week, he thought it might have been a change in my antidepressants still settling. But seeing you have the same problem now I am wondering if maybe it is the Tamoxifen. He recommended drinking heaps of water and trying to be well hydrated. Hopefully for both of us it will settle in time.

Hang in there, we will get through this. Hugs, Jacqui

  • Hi Brenda,

    thank you for your message.

I just finished chemo (January 2016) and radiation (March 2016) as well.

Probably I just need more recovery time. It's a lot with what our bodies have to deal with.

I'm too impatient and don't allow myself a lot of 'resting-time'.

    Wish you a wonderful weekend.

  • Hello Christine,

    thank you for your message.

So far I do not have any other health issues. My only idea for this dizziness is that my shoulders and neck are very sore and tight and maybe this is causing the 'problem'.

Years ago, back in Germany, my thyroid was also under active (only slight), probably I should get it checked.

    Wish you a wonderful weekend.

  • I have low blood pressure so its sort of a fact of life that sometimes when I bend down and stand up too quick I get the dizzy feeling. Its not bad and doesn't last. I still get twingey bone aches as its only been a couple of months since chemo so I guess my body is still sorting itself out and repairing cells. I am in menopause so besides me being on Tamoxifen I was always going to get some sweats and side effects. If stressed or excited they can come on every 15mins at times. I figure I am in some sort of recovery and transition phase and pretty much just need to be patient about it all.

    Hi Michaela

I've been on Tamoxifen for 11 months now and counting down to my completion of 10 years.

My Oncologist had suggested that side effects are apparent in the first month and after that they should settle.  For me it is hot flashes, slight nausea and aching bones however as I am also on other medication it is hard to say that it is all Tamoxifen's doing.  If I think about it I'd blame the aching bones and the hot flashes on Tamoxifen.

I was suffering from dizziness however that is unrelated to Tamoxifen.  Do you have other health issues that dizziness could be attributed to?  For me it is an under active thyroid, which has only become apparent during this BC journey and is now under control and readings back in the normal range.

Wishing you wellness with your treatment.  Take care

    Christine
