Pain in armpit

hell this armpit pain is the pits for sure. Pain relief only dulls it down. And I'm getting grouchy. I have tried every bra I have in my draw to stop agravating it but nothing seems to be working.  My shoulder care excersises are getting less along with it. Any suggestions
onto results from pathology good clear Margins around most of the tumour oncologist would have liked more at one particular area  so radiation is a definite she would have liked the chemo to have worked better but not enough response for the amount I had and with the neuropathy definitely no more. I start the blocker Anastrozole tomorrow looking at a min 5 years and then some. Apparently my tumour thrived on oestrogen.
i see the breast surgeon on Tuesday and get the stitches out.  And she will look at the lymph pathology some question over only having  4 glands removed 2 fully involved the other 2 clear.
The radiation oncologist is the following week starting the next faze will depend on what the surgeon says.  This is a bit like being back at the beginning Waiting for everyone to plan it out.

  • Hey @cranky_granny if your pain is related to the lymph nodes being removed (axilla) some of the ladies have had lyrica tablets to help with the pain (obviously need to speak to Dr about it) and I found that I had one area in particular that was painful so my breast care nurse gave me some thick dressings that I used as a buffer between the band of my bra and my suture line. If you dont have any thick dressings I reckon a sanitary pad would do just as good a job. XX
  • Thanks Nikki just got back from Kmart and have to go back and change them. Too small hope they go up to my size. And I will ask my nurse re the tubi grip. The big rubbing area is under my arm and under the breasts where the created my graft I'll keep trying to find something. One of those soft t shirt boob tubes I used to wear years ago but alas they are history.
  • Hey @cranky_granny - do you have a Berlei post-surgery bra?...Or perhaps some tubi-grip (sized for your torso?) The breast surgeon and or his/her breastcare nurse should be able to help here, although it sounds like it's all rubbing on the flap part :(. There are some great seamless, wireless bras at KMart (@melclarity suggested them). They're really soft. I love wearing mine - only $15 for a pair.

  • Thanks Marg. As I still have stitches in the flap and I tried no bra and the pull on the flap a bit scarey I put one of those T shirt type singlets with the extra breast section on last night. Seems to have helped. Though the Dr didn't say straight to me to wear the bra continually she did say to the nurse to arrange a proper bra before I could go home.
The Drs were patting themselves on the back re their great job. I could have said well aren't  you and I lucky I was a great cow when I fed my children and had to have a whole new wardrobe when I was feeding I went up 3 cup sizes while I was feeding.  They took up a flap from under my boob and put it in back down over the the nice wide excision they took. So now I have less droop on the left than the right. Be interested  to look at once all the tape comes off and stitching out on Tuesday.   Lyn

  • Try putting your bra on over a really soft tee shirt. Or go without for a while if you haven't been told you must wear it. Margxxx
