Horrid Bone and Joint Pain after Pegfilgrastim (Neulasta) injection????
Just wondering if anyone has had the horrible side effects of severe joint/bone pain from the waist down after their shot of the white blood cell booster Pegfilgrastim?
My oncologist said it could be handled with panadol, well a trip to the ER because it was unbearable has left me having 5mg endone every four hours, but this ain’t working. I feel horrible already from the normal chemo side effects (TC, first dose) and to have this on top, plus adding more drugs to my body is starting to really stress me out.
I cannot seem to find any info on Australian reputable sites about side effects and treatments of for the Pegfilgrastim. So I’m willing to hear any advise to get me through this crappy time !!

- @Amazonian I had shocking bone pain after my first cycle and just had panadol which did nothing after that I used panadine forte and endone (not together) and that helped a lot.
- You need to start the Claratyne before you have the shot, it won't work afterwards once the pain sets in the damage is done. There is no reason not to try Restavit. If nothing else it will knock you out at night

I did try the Claratyne, but I don’t think it did anything. So I will try the suggestion of the Restavit next time around! And I will try and get on top of the pain early too.
Today is my first nearly pain free day! Woo hoo!!

Much love to you all!! Xoxoxo - Agree with @Zoffiel which I thankfully found out on this forum after round 2 of chemo. I used Restavit at night time, another antihistamines instead of Clarytin as that did not work for me... The restavit helped me sleep as well and took away all the bone pain! Plus did Epsolm salt baths which were amazing too. I found the Restavit quite strong and continue to take it at very low dose (only 1/4 at night) and it has helped a lot with sleep during surgery etc... I hope this helps you as it did me. You do need to take small breaks from it to remain effective and also lessen chances of vision changes which tends to happen with chemo as well.

I ended up in ED after that thing. White cell count through the roof like 87 (normal is around 7 I think), I couldn't walk because of the pain and it turned my whole breast and lymph node surgery area bright purple. It is a very interesting photo believe me.
ED doc said "obvioulsy you did not need that injection". Hmmmm Purple rash was caused by my body trying to to rapidly repair all the bits that had been operated on (or words to that effect).
I refused to have that needle again and was fine the whole way through chemo.

xoxox - @Amazonian Panadol didn't touch the pain and I didn't have anything stronger. I was just about to go off to ED when a visiting friend gave me a 'funny ciggy'. I would have tried anything. Within 10 minutes the pain was going, going, gone.I was not aware of antihistamines used for this and subsequent injections, took endone and panadol. The trick with me was to take it at the first twinge, rather than waiting for pain to become unbearable. Pain only lasted for few days.
Better luck next time. Watch out for constipation with undone. - I walked it off, even if it was just up and down the hallway at 2am.

- Thanks loves!! I will try the Claratyne! My better half Doctor Googled and did find some info in the Claratyne being effective on a U.K. site, and we did ask my oncologist and she did rubbish it! But I don’t care! I’ll try anything because it’s now day 4 of this pain and I’m done!
