Foot/Heel Pain

Yep - my AIs have definitely impacted my feet - the left one is numb & the right one extremely painful & like you, can only be put down to meds.  I also attended a podiatrist to see if they could spot anything else that may have contributed - but no.

Letrozole/menopause has ruined my feet. They are painful after any impact exercise, including walking, and I wear very good sneakers. I used to be able to walk for kilometres in sandals (good ones) or Birks, but now that has me hobbling. I have bone and joint pain in my feet, my osteo spends a long time working on them. I have always walked long distances so this is very disappointing.

I hobble after any length of time of inactivity longer than 10 minutes, sometimes less. It's all painful.

Honestly the pain you are describing sounds like plantar fasciatis. I've had it 3 times over the years (not had sibce on AIs) Calf stretching is essential to recovery. Have a Google and read about it.
Sometimes an ultrasound is required to ensure a moonboot isn't required. 

Yes I thought initially spurs but now suspect plantar fasciitis @primek .Have an appointment with podiatrist soon to determine.Thanks re stretching exercises tips found a wealth online and will give a go.

It is odd that I seem to have 2 debilitating soft tissue (?) injuries this year - tennis elbow which whilst much improved is still present and painful plus now this.Am wondering whether this related to Letrozole as tbh have done nothing out of the ordinary ? I’d just like to know  the cause not just deal with the symptoms .

I know it’s easy to link to Letrozole as is nobody’s favourite drug but have read others on here having similar issues.I think AIs are underinvestigated and we are the guinea pig cohort. That said in no way will I stop Letrozole.

I've had it 3 times now, all prior breast cancer.  I have excessive rolling of my foot which contributes. I used to do a lot of walking. I wore a heel (not very high) at work most days which shortens that ligament and makes it more of a risk, plus the tight calves. I rarely wear heels now and try to buy shoes with hidden arch supports. I also vary my exercise with water not just walking. It's not unsual to develop spurs because of it. I found my recovery was vastly quicker with the exercises...especially rolling the golf ball and calf stretches. I got into habit prior getting out of bed or standing after rest I stretch the calf and massage the arch. Then the first steps were nowhere near as painful.

@primek just one question if you know the answer.I really do enjoy walking and know my feet are usually less painful after I’m up and about a bit. Given I too am careful with footwear esp now do you think it’s safe to go back to my daily 1 hour walk ? Just worried I might worsen it &/ cause spurs. 

As long as you do stretches before and after and wear supportive footware. If it does get worse you may need to stop until investigated. Alternatives. ..bike riding...water exercise or even a rowing machine short term (although the foot can still hurt with these) and again stretches before and after. My last episode was incredibly painful and I just walked in the pool. (I recall not being able to weight bear at all until I bought an orthotic shoe....the worse episode with quickest recovery due to finding out about the stretches, previous ones had played up for years)
