Any ideas ?? ... Tamoxifen drives me crazy
Hello lovely ladies !
I'm on Tamoxifen for 7 month now.
In the beginning everything, except of the hot flushes, was ok.
Now my body starts to ache on every 'corner' ... shoulders, fingers, feet, hips, .... everyday a new piece of it.
Any ideas what could help ? food, exercise, ... ??

- melclarityMember@Butterfly40 I was on Tamoxifen for 4yrs and honestly I didnt notice anything, I was in my early 40's then. :) Arimidex is a different story. x Not worth getting worried about, it might surprise you . x MelindaSign in to react to this post
- Butterfly_40MemberI am getting really worried now. I am 41 and will start Tamoxifen after my double mastectomy. I am not looking forward for all those side effects! :'(Sign in to react to this post
- KieMemberI have been on tamoxifen since October 2014. I had bilateral breast cancer with both breasts having very different pathology.
I couldn' t believe the facial hair growth. It drives me made. Hot flushes and muscle cramps have settled down. I have been able to work full time as a teacher since October 2014. Levels of fatigue vary from time to time but I have since been diagnosed with under active thyroid which has really taken a while to get the medication right for that condition . Excercuse helps with the fatigue providing you have enough energy.Sign in to react to this post - PaulaNMemberHi I've been on Femera, Aromasin & Tamoxifen. I had severe side effects. I even lost my hair with Aromasin. I was left so exhausted that I'd sleep for days & was pretty much housebound. I went through early menopause with no side effects at all, then I got the hot flushes really bad. For these reasons I made the decision (with my Dr) to stop these medications. I still have some lingering side effects & I don't know how long for. I'm 53 & am happy with my decision, it was the right one for me

Personally, I can't afford to live into old age in any comfort. That's a big consideration now that I understand how crap the drugs that might, and it's a big might, extend my life make me feel. I've already had a recurrence, I'll have another, it's just a matter of when. And how I spend the intervening time.Sign in to react to this post - primekMemberDefinitely worth the discussion.Sign in to react to this post
- janetgMemberAfter I changed from Femara to Aromasin the knee pain went but my hands were so painful I couldn't do anything! My husband had to help doing up buttons and any jars or bottles or even the kettle were beyond me. Took two hands to hold a cup! So back to onc and this time I'm on Tamoxifen - now I just ache everywhere and am still tired all the time (just as with the other two drugs) and still sweating like crazy (just as before too), not a good look when you live in the tropics. And although not ready to kill everyone as before I am still up for a fight at the drop of a hat - as my poor husband will attest to. So now I am considering going solo - no drugs at all. Both my cancers (2005 - HER2- and 2015 - hormone receptive) were removed and lymphnodes were clear and given that I'm almost 70 years old I don't want to feel like this for another 3 years. When I asked about why I got it again last time I was told this time was completely different type of breast cancer and that can happen at any time. Given the number of different types there are - and that it was 10 years between occurrences what am I suffering for?! Anyway see my onc next month again and will have it out with him. Given that lifemath.net only gives me 100 days life extension for taking Tamoxifen I'm beginning to wonder if its worth the trouble. Sigh, sob.Sign in to react to this post
- ZoffielMember@stemi your Lantana jungle sounds like my 'redneck rehab' program. Get out there and cut something up. Weight bearing exercise? OK, watch this! If you are going to be in pain, you may as well have something to show for it.
I had no problems with Tamoxifen years ago. I've just started the dreaded Letrazole which, as I've got a bad case of taxol induced myalgia, is not something I'm looking forward to. Sigh.Sign in to react to this post - janetgMemberI was on Femara - could hardly walk with knee pain & ready to kill anyone!
