This Christmas I will be.......
Hi everyone,
This time last year I asked you all to post some Xmas tips and we put some of these tips in an article and sent it to women newly diagnosed with a link to the online conversation
https://external2.createsend.com/campaigns/reports/viewCampaign.aspx?d=d&c=96F7DB74A54F2F70&ID=87D90CE98EBF5B33&temp=False&tx=0
We would like to do the same this year. I was touched last year by some of the conversations around how Christmas now had a different meaning for some of you and the decisions you made about what is important now for you at Xmas time. I therefore thought we could do something around what you'll be doing this Xmas - what is now important to you, do you now do things differently, have certain traditions, activites become more important, are there things you ve decided not to do?
Would love to hear your thoughts.

- LucyDeeMember@Flaneuse, well that’s something but outrageous that you had to jump through hoops to get it. I’m in Sydney and at my local public hospital, parking was free everyday during Radiation. Since then, I don’t worry about getting an exit card for my monthly blood tests and results appointment as I’m in and out in under 15 mins for the test - so parking is free and unless the Clinic is running late, an hour parking is under $7, once a month which is manageable...Good luck xx
- FlaneuseMember@LucyDee I'm in Qld and at the main Brisbane public hospital. I get a 25% discount on parking now; it took me months to jump through the hoops to get it. The carpark is privatised. Parking costs are higher than at the Wesley private hospital.
- LucyDeeMember@Flaneuse, I don’t know what state you are in or where you are upto with treatment but you should be able to get the exit parking ticket from the front desk of the Clinic, which allows you to park for free xx
- LucyDeeMember@Zoffiel.....I couldn’t have put it better myself.
- BlondyMemberThank you everyone for your well wishes. Love to you all.xx
- kmakmMemberWhat a dreadful phone call to receive @Blondy. I hope you're doing OK this morning. Look after yourself.
- kmakmMember@TeePee Gargh! Wish I could pop over and give you a hand. A smaller Christmas this year sounds like an excellent idea... Yep, 2018 has been f*****g awful and I can't wait to see the back of it. 2017 was extremely difficult, 2016 and 2015 were the absolute pits. My personal wish for 2019 is that no member of my family is either diagnosed with, or dies from, cancer. If I could just have one cancer free year... The breather would be much appreciated! I hope your 2019 is vast improvement. K xox
- FlaneuseMember@Blondy What a rough run you and your family are having. Strength to you.

The last 2 rounds of AC I didn't take the steroids other than through the Iv, as they believed I had a reaction to them - it gave me a 5cm band of redness around my mastectomy scar. I'm hoping I feel ok and don't need to take the steroids. I also didn't have the lerazapam this time either - I'm not sure why they were giving it to me - but I couldn't function at all after chemo which is tricky when you're a single Mum to 3 kids!kmakm said:Oh @TeePee, timing! All things being equal you might still feel OKish as you'll still be in the stage where the steroids will be keeping you 'up' so to speak. It was day three when I started to come down.
I'm the trifle maker in my family. What do you put in your Christmas trifle? K xox
I make a different trifle every year, my favourite is blueberry and limoncello, though this year I'm making berry and lemon curd using almond cake so it's GF. Or that's my plan at least!
our Christmas will be much smaller this year at my aunts - one of her son's and his family is going to his Dads, and her other son's partner just left him in the last few weeks (they have 3 children) so we will be a smaller group which maybe isn't a bad thing. Did I mention it's also my son's birthday on Boxing Day? No rest for me!!!
i also have chemo on NY Eve...I usually don't care much about NY but this year it somehow feels significant, no way 4 months ago did I think this is how my year would pan out...I want to kick the year to the curb and wish it good riddance! - Doin_itMemberSorry to hear that @Blondy xx
