Depression? Get a dog.
I have finally realized why I cannot get out of this funk of depression. I need a dog!
In 2015 I got breast cancer and finished treatment apart from hormone therapy in 2016. In 2017 one of my dogs got bone cancer and had to be put down at Xmas. In April 2018 my old dog had to be put down at a record 17 years old. Ever since I cannot get out of depression. I come good for a few days and then slither back in to despondency.
Well, I am going to do something about it. I went to the council adoption pound and I am getting a horse of a dog called Zane the Dane. He needs to become two stones lighter at the vets on Wednesday but after that I can take him home.
I am so excited! Shifting furniture to cater for a big dog and getting up early every morning in preparation for doggie walkies. I am a different person. Pics will be folllowing on our progress.

- Well he weighs 42kg and stand 2ft 4" at the shoulder and should be named bulldozer as he sort of pushes his way around. He doesn't bark hardly at all, just a low boof when neighbours dogs bark. He has a naughty habit of mouthing hands and jumping up so I am sporting 6 bandaids from yesterdays beach walk where he got a little over excited. He should settle with time and training. Training required on him eating too. At the moment absolutely do not put hands anywhere near his food when he is eating. He loves my two lads and they love him too. I have ordered some toys online as he wants to chew everything not nailed down. He is 2 years old but like a puppy in a great big dog suit lol.

- Oh yay, I love animals but am not supposed to have pets here. I agree that they help us emotionally, in so many ways. I was living here petless for 2 years before I got a little fish (called Bubbles) and I will confess I love to sit n talk to him, or play with him (yes, you can play with a fish!). He's great company and it makes such a difference. Please post lots of Zane pics n adventures, I'd love to see :smile:

I love my big goof ball dog Zelda. This is her searching for the resident python (Monty) that has decided he will live in the roof of the stables. She's mad as a hatter and does whatever the hell she wants but is probably one of the happiest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of owning. - So pleased to hear - big it's aso important to give shelter animals a home and a big dog like that would struggle to find one. Pics when he arrives, please!

Anne - We rent so no animals for me. My daughter suggested that I needed a companion dog which landlords have to allow but somehow I don’t think BC qualifies for that concession.
