Hello Out There

Hi to all the lovely ladies in this group, not much has been happening lately so thought I would put a shout out to everyone and see how we are all travelling, I understand how hard it is and that we all just have to get on with our lives as best we can, its just that there hasnt been much activity here lately so thought I would put up a post asking how everyone was, its nearly spring time and that always
makes me feel better, bulbs pushing their heads up, new growth, time to think about spring cleaning, not! anyway, hope that you are all well, and if anything interesting or funny or anything at all, please just drop in and let us know how you are.

  • Hi @wendy55 Thanks for asking!

I'm having one of those weeks where I'm not sure whether to celebrate or hold my breath waiting for something shithouse to happen. I've finally done the equivalent of winning the jackpot (for me anyway) and been offered a job. I've only worked 360 hours in the last two years doing stuff that has occasionally made me pretty uncomfortable and this position, even though it is causal, is looking like a light at the end of the tunnel. A light that probably isn't a train.

So, tomorrow I put on my work gear (the few pieces that still fit) and my brightest red lippy and trot off for a weeks training. The job? Museum attendant and researcher. How cool is that! After 15 years in public libraries and 9 in a variety of research roles it feels so right. I'll have to fit into a pretty eccentric workforce, but as long as my brain will get up to even 70% of it's previous capacity I should be able to bluff the rest.

The garden is starting to kick into gear though the lack of rain in the last 6 months is already showing. I refuse to start watering as I'll only have to stop during summer. Oh well, like BC it has all happened before and the strong stuff--the roses and daisies--struggle through to bloom in a better season. Marg xxx

  • Hi there @wendy55 ...what a lovely post. Just had news a few minutes ago that my grandson has finally made his first wee in the potty. His mum says that they are so proud and excited. I'll bet that five years ago, they would never have thought that toddler urine could have evoked such parental pride and rapture!!! I've been busy with my (surprise surprise) knitting as I have a niece expecting a girl after three boys. She has asked for anything except blue, and the frillier the better. She has released the beast. I've trawled through my stash of patterns, some vintage as far back as the 2nd war. Patterns include knee warmers, elbow warmers and kidney warmers, as well as spencers and bloomers. What a giggle. So I have a plethora of frilly pink knitted squishiness almost ready to post to the UK in time for her December baby. I also have another grandbaby due in February here in Sydney, so have been making gender neutral goodies for 3-6 months just to get me started.
