- bevvzyMemberYes, I guess that is why they referred to an oncologist after the initial pathology but before mastectomy,ie they already knew the grade etc from core biopsy. I haven't seen him though, surgeon said they were having a team meet this week? the surgeon is not very forthcoming, ie when I ask him something I feel like he is being patronising, he never gives a full reply. Like when I first saw him I already knew grade 3 IDC and had a huge list of questions. I went to ask him and he butted in and said, let me tell you what you need to know and when Im finished, if there is anything you still want to know ask then, I felt uncomfortable so shut up then. Now when I was in hospital and he popped in the next morning and told me that he didn't just remove the sentinel but levels one and two as palpably suspicious, I went to ask somethings and he laudr ghed and said no Dr Google!!!! I only Dr googled as I never felt comfortable to ask him the questions I had. anyway it wasnt
dr Google, it was the recommended sites only. May be a top breast surgeon but lacks bedside manner for sure. So what is N2?????? mean - melclarityMemberOh ok im thinking as youve already been diagnosed with IDC Grade 3 so youd have to see an Oncologist. X

- UnicornkissesMemberBevvzy . I had grade 2 , stage 11B, ER + PR+ HER-ve , 1 lymph node out of 2 sentinels removed was positive.
No clear margins on two different lumps removed.
Satellite tumours through both specimens and another DCIS in one
This was the pathology after lumpectomy.
My treatment plan after that surgery was.
Chemotherapy because the lymph node was involved. My surgeon said that was a given.
Mastectomy and lymph node clearance after chemo.
Radiation after mastectomy.
Hormone treatment because of ER and PR status.
that is just my surgeons view and is probably also because of the nature of my type of cancer which is multi focal and multi centric.
I hope that helps you.
Jennie - AineGMemberBevvzy, it will come down to your particular pathology and the combination of factors there. Good luck, when do you see your oncologist, they will suggest the next steps
Aine - melclarityMemberBevvzy Do you see your Surgeon soon? or are they referring you to an Oncologist to discuss treatment? M x
- fairydustMember@Bevvzy This is the part I hate the most waiting for a recommendation for the next step. I do not have your type of cancer so not much help. Best wishes glad mastectomy is over for you.
- primekMemberOncology call, they may still recommend radiotherapy and hormone only.
