Bone pain

Of recent times my only side effect has intensified.  Bone pain.  I've had a Physio visit to eliminate referred pain from elsewhere.
It's in the shins, just below the knee and radiates down into the toes. The right leg is more intense than the left.
Oh BC just keeps giving!  Apart from a couple of exercises that I was already doing through an Exercise Physiologist - was able to show him the app and my progress he has suggested a heat pack.
Heat pack does help. Return visit in another week.
It's a little annoying as I have been on Exemestane for about 14 months.  The body must be rebelling!
Hope this helps someone else

Take care
  • There are more current studies, I'm just too lazy to find them. AS always, consult with your clinicians,

  • This stuff seems to ebb and flow on the AIs. You think you are doing OK, then it all turns to crap.
I've been trying a PEA supplement (which my onc was not adverse to) in an effort to find a way to deal with what has now become a chronic pain event. Without stuffing my head with pain killers. My local, and rather progressive, chemist recommended it.
I'm a bit ambivalent about it's effectiveness, but I know others who say its made a huge difference. It's impossible for me to know what is cause or effect--I'm three years out of active treatment and my world is very different from what is was in 2016/17. I'm more active and working again, but still plagued by joint and muscle pain but I have certainly upped my activity levels since I started taking it in November last year.
It's worth a look, though as it's classified as a food supplement it is not cheap.

  • Thank you for your thoughts!  This pain is different to shin splints.  Many moons ago there was a group of us that took on training from a very low base to participate in the Melbourne marathon. Shin splints were a killer but I pushed through and was the only one in the group to complete the full marathon distance.
I believe that endurance training has been beneficial in this BC shitfest we endure.
It's strange, that one leg is more intense than the other. Maybe it's the weather!
  • Sorry to hear of the bone pain @iserbrown  - I hope that the physio can sort it out for you.

Are you doing much walking?  Shin splints can happen - specially if you've changed to new shoes?

It could just be yet another side effect of the Exemestane too ....Initially I thought it was wonderful - but then I was on it for 6 months (after 6 weeks on Letrozole) before my aches & pains became untenable ..... on Arimidex now.  So far, so good!

    All the best xx
