Aching legs

Hello ladies!!!I I was wondering if anyone on Tamoxifen has experienced aching calf muscles during the night. Almost like a cramp? I haven't changed anything else,so can't work out what it would be from. Thanks in advance for any replies! Cheers xox Robyn

  • The achy legs are a normal hormonal thing, caused by the lack of oestrogen.  This is why some have it before Hormone Therapy.  Once the Tamoxifen or Arimidex whatever Ai's you take kicks in, so do the side effects.

The joys of being female and the non-joy of hormone therapy, but at least this is an indication that treatment is working.

  • I take it morning and night, I was just taking one a day but I found I was still getting some cramping, I have no break through on 2.

there always seems to be something that grabs at us isn't there?

  • I just spoke to the pharmacist, and he suggested trying magnesium!I have bought some, and will give it a try.He also said about the importance of drinking plenty of water.I thought I had been, but I will be more aware. How much magnesium do you take Donna? He suggested I start on 2 tablets daily. Thanks for your reply.Cheers xox Robyn

  • I actually wonder about the calcium thing too, because of my osteoporosis.I am going to chat to the local pharmacist and see what he thinks.I don't want to rush off to the doctor for this.I will let you know what he says.Robyn xox
  • Thanks Deanne. Its not as though it's anything to really worry about, but it is such a nuisance.I am one of those people who functions best on a good nights sleep.I don't need this, especially with school holidays starting today, and we have a full house!Take care .Robynxox
  • I had leg cramps at night, and I wasn't even on Tamoxifen - the cramps and twitching were regular.  For me, the answer was getting up and having a warm milk drink.  The cramps stopped within minutes.  It made me wonder if it could have been calcium related?  I hope you find relief - it's not pleasant. All the best, Michelle xxx

  • I have had something similar even before BC. I found it helped to massage my lower legs with Peppermint Reviving Leg Gel (from the body shop). I even bought some for my Mum and sister who were having similar issues and it helped them. Hope this helps. Deanne xxx
