Post Op Mania
Hello to all my new friends. I left hospital lunchtime yesterday. Prior to operation I spent 4 hours at radiology being poked proded, stung with multiple needles, all searching for the elusive sentinal node in right breast and enduring hook wire procedure in left breast. I was in tears by the time I walked around the corner to the hospital (still in radiology gown that by now I refused to take off). My Doctor and her team were waiting for me so I had no time to settle down. According to my surgeon the operation went fine. Cancer and surrounding tissue, sentinal node and two others all removed from the right breast. Three tissue samples were taken from the left breast - all off to get tested. I don't have any drains in and I am in no pain. For everyone's sake I have been brave, positive and upbeat. I didn't want anyone to see how frightened I have been. I am sad to say I lost it tonight. I guess because I have been putting on such a brave face my husband thought it would be alright to just disappear and leave me on my own for 4 hours without telling me. This was the first time I had been left alone since the operation. After 3 hours I started to panic because I thought he must have been in some kind of accident. I also felt very isolated and frightened. Not thinking straight I got in my car (told not to drive for 7 days) and went looking for him. I found him at the pub. (I only got out of bloody hospital yesterday!) I just lost it. I packed my bags and left, drove around for 3 hours and came home again because I didn't want to bother anyone. Not only did he not come looking for me or try to phone me, he made himself dinner. Not a worry in the world! I will eventually forgive him. I hate being vulnerable! I hate being needy! I hate being hurt! Seven days to wait for results is a long time. I am going to go to bed now and forget about this day. Hopefully, I will be back to my normal self tomorrow. Suziexx
