Peripheral Neuropathy
Hi All,
I have started this new thread because I am worried.
I am 2 months out of chemo (Dose Dense 4xAC 4xPaclitaxol) and the neuropathy in my feet is getting worse. From the balls of my feet to my toes - feel like blocks of wood!
When I sleep, I sleep o n my side with my hands under the pillow. Recently (in the last week) I have been waking up wth pins and needles in my hands and fingers. When I put my hands down by my sides it goes away, but I naturally put my hands back there again and yep, more pins and needles. Do not notice anything during the day in my hands.
By the end of the day my feet are REALLY sore, red, swollen etc. All my oncologist said (on last meeting a few weeks back) was to moisturise. I haven't been doing it twice a day like she said to, so I will increase that, but any other tips? Should I be worried that it seems to be getting worse rather than better?

- NefertariMemberThanks @JJ70 going to get a copy of that book!! Anything that will help is appreciated.
My hands are almost normal, no pain anymore only a slight numbness in a couple of finger tips / nails....a weird feeling.
My feet are improving slowly but I still have a long way to go. I even have it in my right leg up to the thigh, the pain is worse than the numbness for me.
I have been taking Vitamin B12 sub lingual tabs and exercising and I have noticed a big improvement in just a few weeks. It is 6 months post chemo for me. - JJ70Member@strongtogether - yes it is old, but I am finding it a good read. Perhaps there have been some developments in 20 years, but if lack of developments in chemo regimes haven't changed much (which they don't seem to have) I doubt the treatment and diagnosis of PN has changed either. From what I can gather Oncologists are more about the regime's success rate.
- SisterMemberIf it has any suggestions for aching soles, I'm in!
- JJ70MemberHaha @kmakm...the thought of you with a saw at my feet will take me back to my pre BC days of a swift 10km run!
Wow that's an old book- it doesnt even come on kindle! I wonder if the information in it is still up to date?JJ70 said:- kmakmMemberThat is arse @JJ70. Shall I amputate?! ;)
- RomlaMemberAn interesting post as I am having problem with my heels.I was thinking it’s heel spurs and have changed to more supportive footwear ( Planet shoes) and purchased orthotics for my ASICS which formerly were so comfy - both have helped with the pain.Is quite depressing as I haven’t walked for some weeks .
- SisterMemberI hadn't considered on as a possible reason for my aching feet - I put it down to Letrozole as most of my pn symptoms have long disappeared. I went for a 2 km walk in the beach recently and was in so much pain for the next couple of days that I was thinking twice if I had to walk up the passage. Might have to get a copy of that book.
- AfraserMemberI’ve found hot wax pedicures terrific - not a lasting solution but my feet feel good for days. Yoga has helped a bit - I still can’t tuck my toes but practicing my balance helps. My feet rarely get actually sore these days but after a long day, walking on dunlopillo is nowhere near as pleasant as it may sound!
