Arimidex and weight gain

Question

anyone on Arimidex and gained weight ??&nbsp; a&nbsp; couple of months ago I noticed Id gained about 8kg I thought that was because my doc upped my dose of anti dep, so i cut that out, but I still feel like Im gaining weight as my clothes dont fit like they did.&nbsp; is this a common issue with such meds??&nbsp;

Hi therei had a mastectomy last October then after radiotherapy went on another AI , Letrazole ( Femara) &nbsp;in January.I was 78 kilos when I had the surgery and over the months that followed got down to 68 kilos where I have stayed.I see an exercise physiologist regularly and didn’t see a dietician as I knew what to do - give up cakes, biscuits, chocolates , drastically limit processed foods and alcohol, up the fresh fruit and veggies and fish.A lot of people find the structure of seeing a dietician helps them.It is true some ladies complain of weight gain after taking an AI such as Armidex or Letrazole , and it’s also true lots of people have put on weight as a result of Covid.The other thing about exercise is that some studies have shown it helps prevent recurrence of breast cancer .Also it has the added bonus of strengthening the bones which is important if you are taking an AI.

I've definitely put on weight, @tisme - but I don't think i can totally blame Arimdex!&nbsp; Over the last 18-24 months, I've not been anywhere NEAR as active as I was prior to that &amp; before I was diagnosed.&nbsp;&nbsp;I think it would be quite normal tho, as many members have the same issue.&nbsp; Take care - try &amp; get out for a walk every day ..... short ones initially &amp; work up to longer walks .... and I'll try &amp; take my own advice!&nbsp; &nbsp;LOLtake care xx

thats whats so depressing, i was 104kg , found out I had non alcoholic fatty liver ( caused by bad diet ) so i went on a healthy diet /exercise , got down to 75kg, then psych wanted me to up my anti depressants I did gained 8kg in a couple of months, so i cut them down ( trying to cut them out )&nbsp; will find out tomorrow when I visit my dietician how much more ive gained, gp's scales last week said 83kg ( the 8kg i just mentioned ) but my clothes are getting tight so i wondered .&nbsp; ive heard of women gaining a lot of weight on it) . daughter drags me out for a walk everyday ( RA and O/A allowed). always been on the diet , ( dietician has often said im not eating enough /enough variety). the idea of putting on all that weight again is really depressing&nbsp; but yes I know the risk of cancer is worse&nbsp;

@tisme Well done on your weight loss.&nbsp; Cooler weather and perhaps not as much activity maybe a reason.You've done well and perhaps with some tweaking will be back on trackBest wishes&nbsp;

Well done on your AWESOME weight loss @tisme!&nbsp; &nbsp;Yes, as @iserbrown says - with summer coming on (and hopefully a lessening of covid restrictions) hopefully we'll all drop a bit of our winter weight!&nbsp;&nbsp;Don't stress too much - but I can fully understand your concern .... after losing all that weight earlier on!Take care xx
