New diagnosis
Well , just diagnosed yesterday now . My head is still spinning . It has been a very stressful long week awaiting biopsy results following my 2 yearly routine mammogram. Age 60 , recently retired , how often did you hear that and think , well that sucks , well here I am ……..
ER Positive Invasive Carcinoma .
Finding the waiting the hardest , GP follow up on Wednesday to organise my follow up referrals for surgery expected within the next four weeks , dependent on Lymph node involvement treatment options . Seemed quite positive that I have been lucky to have caught it early

Hi Moomoo2026 it's a whirl wind and the waiting is difficult. It is great that you have caught it early as it really does make a difference. I had a similar experience- within 6weeks had Surgery- removal of left breast and now no cancer. Only need Hormone Therapy which I'm yet to start.
Everyone copes differently and there is no right or wrong way on how to deal with it all. however, I do recommend only reading information from accredited sources such as Cancer council, Breast Cancer Network Australia. "Dr Google" can take you down the wrong path...
The waiting is difficult and I was lucky I had work as a distraction though in any downtime I was always thinking "I have cancer inside me, has it spread, what does the future hold?".
I have young kids, so carried on as normal as I could for their sake. Surround yourself with a good friend/family support who will just listen & be there for you.
Good luck and remember you are not alone.Sign in to react to this post
