Which MooGoo did you use?

Hi everyone, I’m one week into my radiation, so far so good. My skin was a little red last night.  I’ve already  got a tube of  the full cream moisturiser of MooGoo, is this the right one one or will I get the udder cream? The strataxrt is pretty expensive! Also, I’m putting my cream on twice a day , is this enough?
TIA xx
  • I used Udder Cream on the weekends and afterwards.  Mepitel film during the week.
  • Hi Caz1

I’m starting in 6 weeks. I have been advised by a radiotherapy nurse to use Moo Goo Udder cream and it is better to put on thinly more frequently than thickly etc she also said 3-4 times a day if you can when skin starts to get red. Hope your remaining treatment goes well. Xx
  • Hi @Caz1

I had 30 rounds of rads.  Used the udder cream the whole way through three to four times a day. Where my chest nodes got nuked got itchy and peeled after the first 10 or so treatments. I used sudocream there  (messy and hard to get off but worked).   I only started to blister on the breast  about number 20.  Solosite gel and a little gauze  if it gets weepy and it'll take the burn out.   When I was finished I used flamazene which helped it heal very quickly.  You can't use that one until after as it contains silver.  The whole lot was barely noticeable after about 10 days.  The heat stays in there for a while though.
    All the best lovely.
  • I forgot to mention that I went to the nurses' station after rad treatments if I had any concerns. I was given pads to stop the nipple chafing. Nurse also applied a thick medicated ointment to the nipple once. It was probably cortisone. She also advised me to buy a very mild cortisone cream for the itchy area on upper chest. I did, and it's useful to stop me scratching. I had 16 treatments. When we had that very hot weather I had stone cold showers or dunked myself in the sea to cool down the breast. Even now the treated breast feels warmer than the other one. Best wishes. :)
  • @Dory65 good to hear. I was a little surprised the redness happened so quickly, I was told it would take a few weeks to happen. Rad techs said it’s normal so I’m SLIGHTLY reassured  ;)
Surgery is next after this for me.

@"Beryl C." Thanks. Darn it I’ve bought two tubes of the other one :s  . Might see if I can exchange them for udder cream. I’ve got 25 zaps. 5 down!

  • Hi Caz1, I used MooGoo Udder Cream and had very pleasing results. I had 15 'zaps' with some slight discoloration of skin (pale brown), 12mths later and skin colour is normal, what you might call olive skin tonings. As we are all unique it may be trial and error.
  • Hi Caz1,
I was told MooGoo is OK to use after rad treatment, but too heavy and thick before, so I just used the QV supplied by the hospital. I finished rads a week ago today. Still applying QV twice daily. Skin still hot and a bit sore and itchy on the upper chest. Surprisingly sore in armpit where my surgery scar is. The scar was pale and healing well before rads. Now it's angry and red. The surrounding skin has darkened too. I was told it's all 'normal' by the rad doc. Can't wait to start healing properly.
