Skin fold

Hi

I am 8 days post radiation treatment and have been feeling great and living life. I now have a split skin fold which is oozing a yellow goo (sorry only way I can think to describe it).  My question is it ok to put anything in this?  My rad nurse was supposed to call days ago and didn't and I tried calling today my was told the nurses were unavailable and to leave a message (that I did) and my gp isn't available until next week.

    I am so sorry you've had this glitch @JenniferKK - your Rad Onc would also need to know about this  ....

    If you tell your GP receptionist that it is urgent ... relating to your cancer treatment ... they should be able to get you in earlier (most have a couple of 'urgent' spots reserved most days) ... even if you don't see YOUR OWN GP - just one in the practise!

    Given that tomorrow is Friday - you don't have a big timeframe to play with. 

    It would appear to be infected - and pus is the yellow goo .... if you can't see your GP/someone tomorrow - I would suggest you just front up to your cancer treatment centre & basically not leave until you have been checked out OR go to your closest hospital and explain that it is the result of your cancer treatment.  

    Personally, I would not wait until Monday or later.  Take care & all the best xx

    My advice is to front up at your usual GP clinic or, as @arpie says, front up at your BC treatment centre.  I have found the GP clinic 'gestapos' are often useless when we really need help - best to go in person.
    Good luck.  Don't wait until the w/e when things are more than likely closes.

    Thanks ladies for the advice.

    I gave just spoken to rad nurse who said it's quite normal & use sudocream a few times a day to dry up & only have concerns if it's green & smelly or not healing by the middle of next week.

    That's good to know @JenniferKK ... tho I know I would still be concerned xx.   

    Is the split skin fold something 'new' or did it only start after your Rads?   

    Maybe keep your GP appt for a general 'check over' ... for peace of mind xx.

    When do you see your Rad Onc next?   Take pics of everything, specially if you see a change ... to show her/the rad nurses too xx. Take care xx

    @JenniferKK I had something similar with my mastectomy wound (and I took a photo  every day). I would still be keen to see someone.  The “gestapo” strike again.

    I had a small split at the end of radiation & has progressively gotten bigger of the last few days.

    I am taking photos of everything as I always had a staph infection after my surgery (that's why I was concerned).

    I am seeing my gp on Tuesday (just in case) and will go to emergency if worsens over weekend.

    I see my rad onc on July 12.
