Thankyou @sandramj this is the first time I’ve read a comprehensive article acknowledging the longer term side effects of radiotherapy some of which I ,like yourself ,am already experiencing .The first few times things happened I was quite spooked and panicky - it would have been good to know in advance rather than enduring considerable distress and racing off for medical assessment.Whilst I think medical assessment is still wise the idea that it may probably be a consequence of radiation somehow makes things easier to bear. I was not given detail of any of these longer term side effects by my radiotherapy clinic or radiation oncologist - in fact on the one occasion I rang questioning chest pains I was told iby an oncologist that it was too long ago to be the cause - it was 3 months since my treatment ended and I had LHS treatment. Whilst I would still have radiotherapy with what I know now I would have appreciated better information of its after effects - given my 16 rounds cost $17000 - $2000 out of pocket not covered by my health insurance - I figure I am entitled to better information than I received. Not so minor matter I did not know I could have radiotherapy in the public system even if I had surgery in the private system and incur zero out of pocket expenses. Finally my care generally during my treatment was excellent but in this particular area it was lacking and has caused some considerable worry.
