second chemo session

I wouldn't say they get any worse. Some side effects you had for round one you won't have again like with me, all my facial sun spots came away and I had a whole scabby face for a few weeks. Other new side effects might crop up like for me rounds two and three really bad reflux but on dose 4 I didn't have it at all thank goodness. New side effect after round four was any hair I had left fell out and my nail beds on hands and toes lifted my nails for a week or two. Cutting them really short to stop leverage will preserve them and once the side effect settles down the nail beds will regrow under the nails.

I had TCH chemo. I found each session affected me differently. I was dreadfully ill after the 1st treatment. I was given other drugs to help with the side effects. They did help but I was still terribly sick so they changed the carboplatin to cyclophosphomide. I had something changed with every treatment to try to make it more bearable. Definitely tell the oncologists every single side effect as you will be surprised what they can do. It's not very nice but you will get through it. Hang in there. Karen xox

welcome to our network. I found that my side effects varied with each treatment, however got more tired as it went on. Take good care of you and take all the medications as directed. It's good that you're not doing too badly this time, hoping that it continues.

Hi Julie welcome to the site, one chemo done, yay. Everyone travels chemo so differently. My first 2 were not great the last 2 better as the oncologist dropped the dosage as I was so sick. The biggest issue for me was the fatigue always tired. Any side effect tell your doc they can't help if you don't tell them.. Take it one day at a time, keep visiting xx

I think they all.differ a bit but also different people have different reactions and experiences.

I am on AC Chemo and had my 2nd last Monday (this is day 9 of the 2nd course) and I have found this one much easier and with lesser sideeffects than that 1st time (for the initial 9 days). 

I found my low Blood Pressure and dizzyness at time (having some heart issues too) worse but absolutely everything else is heaps better (no loss of taste, nausea tiny bit only, no contipation, no migraines, not as tired, visual.perception heaps better, Chemo fog negligable, less of 'bacside burning' which started day 5 last time and now only on day 8)...

And no significant bone pain that some experience post neulasta injection.

I am having some GI issues now but last time they started heaps earlier and this time 4 days later and so far no worse...

Here is hoping it stays like this.

I think that it is really important to tell your oncologist about ALL your side effects because there is so much that can be done for you.  Having said that, I did find that I was knocked out usually on day five or so and just needed to rest up.  As the treatments went on, I found that I got more and more tired but I ate well and was very well looked after and I think that made a difference - be very careful with bugs etc because they can be pretty ruthless when you are in the middle of chemo - and don't ever hesitate to go to a and e at any point if you feel unwell - everyone is very understanding and they will roll out the red carpet for you once you tell them that you are on chemo - having said all of that, I absolutely agree that everyone is different and so your communication with your doctors is very important to get the help that you need at the time....good luck on this very challenging journey...

Hi Julie. Welcome to the network. Congrats on getting through your first chemo. As I am sure you have heard already, everyone's chemo is different. I had TCH chemo which I did find got harder as I went along, but I never had nausea or mouth sores. I know of other women who breezed through it. Here's hoping that you will be ok with it, but if not don't hesitate to come on here for support.

I am sitting in hospital getting my last and 4th chemo treatment. I was unwell after my first chemi for about a week. Then after my second chemo i was fine for the whole 3 weeks but after my third i was feeling agitated and annoyed for 2 weeks. Oncologist advised i could forgo my last chemo if it was getting to me, but i decided i had come this far i may as well finish the whole treatment, so here i am. I now have my 20 radiotherapy sessions to go.

each of us are different and the chemo affects us all differently. Take care of yourself and don't push yourself too much. If you need to rest do so.
