Radiotherapy
I session 22 of 25 and skin has completely broken down and peeled off under breast , areas of chest as well as blistered and bleeding and dark red to mahogany colour from under arm all way down side then right across chest and under breast. It’s excruciating- making nauseous. Had anyone’s nurses offered dressings etc this stage - I’ve just been told to use moisturiser and keep breast from rubbing- disappointing at this stage - has as no other nurse available- don’t want to fuss but omg I’m in pain and already on opioids. Any suggestions? 3 to go..

How are you healing now? Thinking of you. - @Louise64, I had a rotten time with radio. It’s hard when most people have hardly any effects and you aren’t prepared for it. PM me if you need to chat/vent
Cazxxx - @Abbydog I’m sure you won’t have problems I have as I have excessive sun damage to whole area being treated and having large breast has added to problem. The others ladies I talk to in waiting room have nothing like I have - sorry - this is selfish of me - but trying to get myself back to work ASAP. The StrataXRT was working really well until it didn’t. Unfortunately I’m just looking for anything- I hope appointment with senior nurse tomorrow for treatment - and I ask a few more questions.

I'm terribly sorry Radiotherapy has gone so bad for you. Hopefully you will heal quickly.
Your posts are quite scary to me. I'm 2 weeks into my 5weeks of treatment.
What did you do from day 1, to protect your skin?

I had skin breakdown, but not the nasty pain like you. I couldn't work during radiotherapy either. But I think ......it........will........get.......better.............LOL

- I’m really wish I had nothing after lumpectomy- will never have radiotherapy again. More time off work I just can’t afford.
The pain and area affected compared to scar- I’ll take my chances next time. Just no idea it would be this bad 😢 - I am SO sorry to hear this, @Louise64 .... it must be excruciating and very uncomfortable for you?

Nurse and treatment doctor applied Mepilex and gel. They said I’ll be continuing to come in for treatment after last session- so happy they’ll continue. See my specialist tomorrow and getting more pain relief .. feel better now I know what’s ahead next several weeks. I agree - I’m just functioning 👍
- You have to bear it but definitely don’t have to be grinning while bearing it 😣. It is very painful - I was so unprepared for how painful it was. Flamazine smothered all over was such a relief once the skin broke down.I didn’t work - I just functioned and that’s about it.Be prepared mentally that it won’t start healing the day after your last treatment. Once it begins to heal, it’s amazing how quickly it’s done, but it won’t start to get better for some days after. It’s hard to take when you’re expecting that - ‘ right, I’m done and now it will heal.’ It takes time so you have to hang in there a little longer.
