Radiation burns how to treat
I am 9 days post radiation. I dont want to say too much here that will scare people who are about to start. But i have skin which has come off and is weeping. Anyone know if i can use an antiseptic powder to dry out a bit or will that make it worse?251Views0likes30CommentsRadiotherapy
I session 22 of 25 and skin has completely broken down and peeled off under breast , areas of chest as well as blistered and bleeding and dark red to mahogany colour from under arm all way down side then right across chest and under breast. It’s excruciating- making nauseous. Had anyone’s nurses offered dressings etc this stage - I’ve just been told to use moisturiser and keep breast from rubbing- disappointing at this stage - has as no other nurse available- don’t want to fuss but omg I’m in pain and already on opioids. Any suggestions? 3 to go..1.2KViews0likes89CommentsUnderarm soreness after radiation
Can anyone explain why I have more underarm pain post radiotherapy my surgeon says that rib pain is often a "pesky" problem but to me it's more than that & it's not just ribs its also under my armpit !! I had been wearing soft bras during chemotherapy & during radiation until the burns started. Now it's weeks post radiation I'm all healed up but I still cant get back to wearing a bra - feels like back to square one. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?211Views0likes6CommentsPain 2 years after Treatment - Possible damage from Radiotheapy
Diagnosed in 2015. Lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy. In about March 2016, I developed pain under the affected breast (upper abdomen / lower ribs), which was more painful in a sitting position. Bra's hurt and as you would all know, any pain is now a worry. CT scans and X-rays came back clear, I was then referred to a gastrointeroligist and began treatment for oesphagitis. I first I thought this was the answer, but the pain remained. My oncologist suspected damage from radiotherapy and my GP put me on lyrics (nerve pain). Still no relief (just horrible side effects from Lyrica). My surgeon said to get off Lyrica and try acupuncture. After researching more I found something called Radiation fibrosis syndrome. See link https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4056465/ I can't be the only person with this kind of pain. Any advice or treatment options would be great. Looking forward to hearing from this group x131Views0likes10CommentsMouth pain, tooth problems after radiation
I am wondering if anyone else has had dental problems or mouth pain during or after radiation? My story is tingling sensitive tongue, gums, lips from one week starting radiation on right breast. Was told it could have nothing to do wth radiation. This turned into pain and increased until I found a dentist in my new town. Cracked tooth under gum holding onto a crown and bridge! Crown and bridge removed then in week following end of radiation, a most awful procedure to extract the rest of the tooth. Healing is slow and a week later am still sleepless from pain. I now suspect some pain is coming from lower jaw (extraction was from top) and am fearful that radiation has weakened my system, teeth, jaw bone...and there's more trouble ahead. Has anyone had anything similar to this?Pain after Radiation
Hi, I was hoping some of you lovely ladies might be able to help me ?? I am 10 weeks out of Radiation treatment and am still getting excruciating pain in my breasts ( particularly the left where I received more and stronger rads ) this pain literally doubles me up and fair takes my breath away.... Is this normal ? Can't see my breast surgeon till May and the only other person I have met is my Rad Onc and he told me everything should be right as rain within 2 weeks! Am now keeping myself awake at night worrying that things are worse than I thought if I am having such awful pain. I would love to hear from anyone who is still ( or did ) experience pain after 2 weeks thanks in anticipationJust took my first little white pill
Well the day finally arrived and I took my little white Tamoxifen pill this morning. I was terribly nervous and anxious and I waited for a bomb to drop with side effects....weird I know! I went through Chemo with relative ease, then radiation knocked me a bit with severe burns and pain but this white pill was the ultimate monster to me. But Im now a 'Tamox Girl' like so many of you out there and I'm going to cross everything that I dont have any side effects and if I do - I pray they are minimal! Hope you are all well. xxxx Jodie12Views0likes20Commentsadvice wanted
Hello, I am newly diagnosed, I have had two operations the first one removed a lump and 18 lymph nodes of which 4 had cancer. the second one removed some ductal type left and now I have been told that I need to have a mastectomy as they still feel that some may be left behind. This is all within a month so I am still very shocked. I am feeling very stiff in arm and have some areas of pain and some areas that I can not feel at all. After mastectomy(maybe Friday) I will need chemo, radio and hormone therapy i have been told. I would like to talk to anyone who has been there before me about their experiences. Thanks, Julia11Views0likes13Comments
