Radiotherapy and dizziness

Hi, my diagnosis was TN BC I just put a post up on the e general blog site, so not sure if I'm doubling up! I am in my fourth and final week of radiotherapy which is fantastic. However since the sixth treatment have been experiencing full on dizziness, had lots of tests for this which have come up clear. It is pretty distressing. Did/is anyone experiencing similar issue? Thanks, Tam.
  • Hi Annie Glad to report that vertigo almost gone, I have little bits of it when I overdo it. The osteopathic treatments started to shift it. But what really shifted it was an acupuncture treatment. My acupuncturist focused on spleen points, it really helped. You might not be able to change your plans, but I suggest if it's possible to stay near where you are being treated, ( for radio) it zaps your energy so much. Most hospitals have accommodation which is subsidised. Tam.
  • I suggest Juicing if you can tolerate juices a good combination I am on is apple/carrot and ginger as I am still on Chemo.

on facebook there is a page/group Ema's herbs she often puts up smoothies or juices that are benefical etc.

remember to be gentle on yourself the journey is different for each of us but common in many areas.

Try eating lots of fresh veggies and Fresh Salmon or other fish Omega 3 are needed to help you rebuild the good cells t hat treatment can knock about.

I have another 28 day cycle then I start Radio for 6wks .....

travelling up to 110kms each day round trip to radio.

I am sure that I will be tired but I will get thru this.

  • Hey only 2 more radio treatments and I its over, the last two weeks of radio have seemed like a lifetime. I have been lucky not to have many side effects throughout my treatment but the fatigue and lethagy from the radio is not what I expected. I have returned to work a few hours a week which is great, but feel totally unmotivated and lethagic, does anyone know how long this may last any tips for motovation? lol for those in the thick of it right now, keep up your spirits there is light at the end of that tunnel. Cant wait till Monday it seems so far away lol

  • Hi Tam. well i did answer this and had a problem posting it. lolJust wanted to say we have ladies come on here as soon as they are diagnosed, right through to others who dont use the network until they have finished treatment, and also the ones who just like to read the blogs and not post. But either way we are all here for each other no matter what part you are in.  Thats the good thing i live rurally and having my band of network pink buddies is great.Take Care Moira

  • Thanks Moira I really apreciate your clarity, still feel in the thick of it, as it were. Yes, I will come back in and write about how it's all going, I kind of wish I had started doing this months ago! This is a good network support, I can see that now. Tam.

  • Roll on Friday eh!!!.... But yes you are right about the treatment ending....I think its a fear we all go through when there is nobody paying attention to us every couple of weeks...  Strange eh we dont want the treatment but we are worried when it finishes.Just make sure you still have you time for a while to come,  I was one of the unfortunate ones, I was going along well for a few months after my treatment, then fell in a heap, please remember we are all going through the same journey but our bodies handle it differently.  I ended up being depressed and after tooing and frooing to the specialist and insisting i didnt need anti depressants, i was a strong person and had got through treatment blah blah blah, sniff sniff sniff, he suggested trying it for a year, which i eventually gave in and took them, the best thing i ever done, and true to word a year after came off them, and have been great since then (3 years later).  So although hopefully it wont happen it does to a high percentage of people, so dont think you're a freak if it does (I did lol). just make sure you take time out the treatment is over but we still have a fear factor to handle. Please keep comming back and let us know how the dizzyness goes. And after Friday Enjoy sleeping in your own bed, and CELEBRATE we are the lucky ones who are here to tell the story!!!!, have a nice glass of wine..... lolTake care and Regards Moira
