Radiation

I have 2 more radiations to go and although I am red around my whole left breast it is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have a slight rash on the chest and under the breast. But my nipple is sore and red. I discussed this with my radiation doc yesterday and all he said was well when you put cream on your breast when it is on the nipple it will dry out and become crusty. Yeah ok but I didn't put cream anywhere near my nipple last night and was crusty and sore this morning. Trouble is my nipple is inverted and to clean it is painful.

Well have to see the nurse tomorrow after my last treatment see what she says otherwise off to my GP.

  • Feeling pretty good at the moment Mich, no fatigue as such.

Didn't realise that my immune system is still low for a while, will take care, although it is that hot here in Cairns I don't like the idea of not being able to swim for another 4-6 weeks

And I will be having a glass or two of vino tomorrow night.

    Take care Cheers Linda

  • YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats. That is excellent news that you have had your last radiotherapy, great news. How are you feeling other than a bit sore and sunburnt etc. Are you tired or coping with that side of things.

It is such a wonderful feeling to be over the worst of it all isn't it??

I will make a note of that gel. Hee hee I know what you mean about that bloody chemo brain.

Good luck and hope you get to celebrate your new milestone.

You will need to take care of yourself though as you still have a low immune system for quite a while - as I found out and quite a few of the other ladies with one lady posting us about it just recently.

Take care and enjoy your new found freedom.

    Lots of love, Mich xoxo

  • Thanks Mich

I have just returned from my very last rads and had a rather good discussion with one of the nurses about it. She asked me what the Doc said when I say him on Tuesday, told her he didn't actually seem too concerned.

The nurse told me that it is a build up of dead cells and recommended Solosite gel ( just had to go to the bathroom to get the name of the tube - twice - damn th at chemo brain). And have just slathered it all over. See how we go in a few days. It is annoying especially when driving as the seat belt rubs on the left nipple

Am sure I will survive - have had worse complaints through my journey

  • Hey Linda

Sounds like a grumpy old doc you are seeing. I put cream all over my breasts, nipple, under arm and anywhere the radiation would be zapping. It is to moisturise so it can't possibly make them crusty. Your nipple will be sore from the radiation you poor luv so just be as gentle as you can.

My nipple still gets crusty sometimes so I tend to put bio oil on it now at the same time I putting it on my scars.

I just used a perfume free sorbolene given to me by the rads department.

I am hoping you get a nice nurse who is a bit more sympathetic and understanding.

    Good luck,

    Mich xoxo

  • I am using a cream by the name of DermaVeen which was recommended to me by the nurse at the clinic.

It is a oatmeal based moisturing cream helps so much when my skin is itchy I also use the same product but in a body wash.
