My First Blog

Hi I have Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Grade 3. I have had a Lumpectomy and now have to have Chemo and Radiation. I am okay with the Radiation but not sure on Chemo is anyone out there that has the same ????? Treatment is 3rd Generation Drugs Fluorouracil, Epirubicin, Cyclophosphamide and followed by Docetaxel.  I really don't know what to do would love to hear from people who are in the same boat. I guess I am a little bit scared !!!!!!!
  • I have just found out today that I am also Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Grade 3. Do not see my oncologist until 10 August and have been told it will be chemotherapy and then radiation. It is all very scary. Guess have to do what is advised by the specialist who know about these things

  • Hi Sue, It is so normal to be terrified of chemo. I know I was. As I already told Lisa I am a two time triple negative survivor. When I was told I had to do chemo I was totally freaked. It is amazing though once you get started it is almost a relief. It's like you have a job to do. I was terrified of losing my hair but once I had I just got used to it. You are right , radiation seems so much easier after chemo and it was for me. When I was diagnosed with a recurrence I wondered how I could do it again. Somehow I managed. Yes there were bad days but also plenty of good ones. Everyone is different but I managed to work through some of my chemo. Anyway I want you to know that I am 5 1/2 years post first diagnosis and 4 years post recurrence. I am getting on with life. I wish you all the best. Paula x
  • Hi Sue and Lisa,

Yes cancer is scary. I was diagnosed with aggressive triple negative stage 3 breast cancer. I have had both my breast removed, chemo and radiation. It is now 1 1/2 year since my last treatment. I enjoy my life now-- No it's more than that I CHERIS  my life. I just like to let you know, once you have completed your treatments you will as I have fun and CHERIS your life.

    Cheers Lis

  • Hi Lisa

Thanks for your post. I guess once it starts it's not so bad, always the unknown that is scary.

Good to hear you are going okay,  and great about your daughter, hope she goes well.

I will keep in touch, going to have another chat to Oncology Doctor next week, to clear up some things, so hope that will help !!!!!

    Cheers

  • Hi Sue Sue

I totally understand where you are coming from. I also had a lumpectomy and am currently undergoing chemo which will also be followed by radiation. I had 4 rounds of AC and now on Taxol which is similar to the Docetaxal in that it is one of the taxane chemos effective against breast cancer. You will get through this. Ask your Oncologist lots of questions until you are sure you are clear about your treatment regime. I am now up to treatment number 4 of 12 taxol and I am managing O.K. I am flying to Sydney on Monday night after my 4th treatment to watch my  daughter swim at National Age Championship's. I never thought I would have done that! My point is you will be O.K. It is really scary at first and then once you have your treatment plan underway it gets better. Let us know how you go and please don't hesitate to ask any questions- I am happy to help.
