Not sure what I am doing here so hullo I had my bi annual mammogram diagnosed with breast cancer in both boobs had two operations go double vision and then an infection. The good news eyes right infection on mend and now or chemo etc.Have booked to get my head shaved before I start and have headgear pretty stuff from Chics in Pink at Materin Brisbane.
The 6 month plan chemo, hormone, radium.sounds awesome more sickies......after a lifetime. Of very few sickies what a surprise at 68 to enjoy so far I guess might be a bit crook on chemo but am happy to wear the reactions with my dog Karla who has Hip Displasia and also suffers from her treatment at now 15 months.
The care and guidance from Mater and Chics in Pink has been so supportive. Now time to haves chat ....sometimes known as Ms Have a Chat......hullo to everybody

Dear Chics n Pink
I would recommend anyoe interested in the esperience of breast cancer from diagnosis to today which is basically as of friday this week10th MAy 2013 just one week short of niine months of treatments.......
more to go but the important thing I have used facebook and anyone can log on who is a friend to read my journey posted day by day....my friends and new friends have all been part of the journey and it has been a great experience for me and them.
we have all learned something and all been educated throug this medium
if anyone wishes to log in if you mark your request BCN i will know where you are coming from as sometimes odd people wnat to be my friend and its a lot easier to deal with those who arte genuinely interested in learning fromt he experience.
May I say I understand this is what this network is for but i have found a wider extension and in some sense a closer one to me has wortked well.
My facebook page is simply my name My dog Karla also has a page connected to my business Goodtime on facebook.....its allt here for I think worthwhile reading and it day by day had been a diary of events as they happened
The brief is chem was a breze for me...radium was the toughest challenge of the process bad burns serious burns and I am almst recovered from that as of friday i will be entering the next phase ie drug for five years etc
I have lymphodaema in my hands and right arm i asl have it in one boob i have ben very pro active inthis area and have this under control
I have become proactive on the issue of nurses needs and the ways in which they can be assisted to help patients throug better managemtn at hospitals and have posted simple suggestions on patient opinion which is a site worth visiting
I wa shoping to be at the network event on friday at city hall in brisbane and have rtegistered for that...but due to the extension of my treatment due to burns i am at the hospital on friday.
I rund a business and although i have done my nest during this ;ast nine months obviously there have been ongoing problems which I am now about to tackle head on.....financially it has been a loss plus th eexpense of all BC exercise has taken its toll but all is not lost and through the incredible efforts of all concerned on the medical side I feel reayd for the challenge of getting my busiiness back on track and also geting my fitness somewhere where it was....
I realise its never really over.....lymphodaema says that.......it will be interesting to see how my rehabilitatuon in terms of fitness works with these new found disabilities but like ever challenge I have had I will tackle ti psotiveely.
My dog Karla throughout this process has also been on arehab trail and I am rpoud to announce through water treadmill weekly treatment, physio and a disciplined apprach to her exercise activites she is a superb example of the athletic nature of a Wiemeraner......her facebok page tells her story as well.
the perfect path for me is haveing her disability arrive not long aftermy diagnosis differenc ebeing in our ages but hers brought her closer to my exercise restraints which is sort of shall we say dejavue
So I wont go through my whole path here as I say get on facebook and have a read if your interested....i have found as I am sure everyne else has that new friends through this porcess have developed and those have been extremely helpful in providing tips and discussions which are on going daily for me.
I had to rekindle y password etc for this site to get back on this site whish is great and oen that I will try tot ake time to look at more regularly...
Thanks to everyone speak soon

Well done for logging on and sharing your story. I have found the blogs and comments a great comfort as well as very informative. I have just finished at the HOCA Mater in Brisbane and will miss the support they offer. Nothing is too difficult for them. Happy to catch up for a chat if you need, or just ping us online. These pink chicks are very friendly.
- Gail_AustenMemberTook your advise and checked out the rules etc sounds like normal life to me very good information I am a bit of a tech head started in computers in the sixties when one filled a room I have my iPad, iPhone, Mac with me everywhere and without hem life would be very difficult for me as I run my business daily crook or not so instance and place does not matter I have used Facebook to tell my story so far so that I do not have to repeat myself and also so as everyone who needs to know has the word from the horses mouth Thank you this site is amazing Gail and Karla
- Gail_AustenMemberThankyou mich, Very nice to know their is company out there Thankyou Very much for your welcoming words always good to know ......I must say the pink ladies are a good force and I am glad you are all here it makes for good feelings. Heading for start of chemo so I understand tougher days ahead however when you can ask chat with others Tht have had same treatment it gives me a more positive outlook than you one again Gail and Karla
- Gail_AustenMemberWell I love to ride my bike while Karla trots along she has Hip Displasia so cannot over do it ......walking is tougher on me I do a fair bit at work but my right knee is damaged and I wear. Brace for walking riding my bike strengthens my knee and it's easy the drainage bag has prevented me from doing that hope it will come out tomorrow at mater. I will strait chemo Friday or next Friday depends on this infection on antibiotics till Monday next Thankyou for you kind words and helpful advise my intention is to get on my bike and have fun with Karla My work in retail involves moving around and I can be flexible as I own the joint ha ha...I am naturally concerned at reactions as I have had so many already double vision then infection but I am used to challenges this is really different and your thoughts have been really appreciated Thankyou Gail
