Helpful radiography place, not

Hi all,

Not sure if this is a whine or a what do others think senario. . .. .

I am 21 into 33 radiation sessions ??& at the festering sore ikky stage,

soooooo, on Friday my appt was 6.10 pm, hubby was away for the w/end ( of course )

Saw there were no nurses on & asked the receptionist how I could access my gel & dressing after the session & to tide me over the weekend,

She told me to ask the radiologist ladies, which I duly did. Was met with a NO, you are out of luck. To which I said, but they always leave it out for me in my plastic container with my name on it. One of the radios forbade me to go & have a look for it, & told me I would have to go my dr or pharmacy.  The minute I was let out I skittered to the deserted nurses station.  Desperation of the 3am stingy itchies was too strong for bureaucracy ! Of course I was caught ratting thru the cupboards in the nurses station, ordered to get out, which I didn't. Was In a frenzy by this stage . just had to be there somewhere ! Radio girl had commandeered a young male as her security guard ( wtf ) for a pain demented 60 year old. Said gel was finally located by me outside the nurses station.

So far I have been dressed down by 3 staff persons, culminating with the director y/day who yelled at me that he would throw me out if it happened again.

Professional ? Caring ? Empathic ?

ummmmmmm, maybe not so much  . . . .. . .

Would I do again in the same situation. Absolutely. I had to as I see it.  Just maybe abit more cunning. Lol

thank you for listening ??

  • That's terrible!!!

Sometimes I think they forget what you are going through. They think they know but most of them have know idea what it can be like. Glad you finally got your supplies.

  • Could I ask if you were private ? Either way it must have been horrible for you, I was private and my level of care was dreadful

  • OMG that is shocking, disgusting and totally unprofessional on their part. I understand your frustration and desperation to get what should have been there for you, found for you as part of your care. Some of the people at some of these places have no concept of duty of care and showing compassion for someone who is in such a dreadful situation. I wonder how they would react if it was them.

I have had some terrible "service" at the place I was attending and have now moved on, thank fully. I was initially very angry and wanted to complain and carry on but like you have decided for now I just need to let it go and just concentrate on healing. But a letter will be written, I hate to think of others being treated the same way.

Stick up for yourself. Hugs, Jacqui

  • Thanks Kath,

    yes, am considering  . . . . .

Will get my radio out of the way

may just concentrate on my healing & carrying this on def isn't a positive ??

But , yes, would hate to think I didn't save anyone else,

I am great mentally ATM, luckily, but if you aren't, it would have been the last straw . . .

Lovely to have your feedback ??

  • Should read.... an  official letter of complaint of what wasn't  done.

  • Write an ifficisl ketter of complaint of what wasn't  dobe, how unhelpful the staff were, abd rude and what you did because you felt you had no choice. 5 minutes of their time would have avoided the whole incident but if not addressed they will be just as horrible to soneobe else and most likely hostile towards you in the future. Good luck. Kath x
