Hair loss
Hello Ladies,
I've just finished round 3 of AC and still have fluff on my head.
Has as anyone experienced this? Shouldn't I have a smooth head by now?

- viking1MemberRe the fissures ... snuck in here with hair lol ... I am using/playing around with dosages of movicol and a haemorrhoid (sp?) numbing cream that works on tears - proctosedyl - for internal and external. Has been working! Still, every trip to the loo is a wonderous adventure! The pharmacist okayed this for chemo.
- ZoffielMemberFunny isn't it @viking1 how the things we really stress about turn out to be so do-able. Months of worrying about losing our hair and then, within a week, it's gone. Do you want to be bald? Probably not. Can you live with it? Certainly.
What's the bet you will end up in the bathroom in the next week or so learning to navigate your noggin with a razor. Once my hair goes, it's like having bristly half shaven legs--nah. All or nothing. It starts to grow back between treatments and feels like the nasty side of Velcro. I like it smmmooothhh. So I learned to shave my head. Men do it all the time.
The only really good thing about the whole performance is how good the shower feels on a bald head. :) - LMK74Member@viking1, I ended up with fissures on my rear end. Was so bloody painful I'd cry at times and fear using the toilet. I did warm salt baths a few times daily and it helped ease discomfort a bit. Also wet wipes after bowel motion was essential. I loved being bald just for the change, but my hair was short anyway so I didn't care. The sore scalp will ease. Chemo sucks.
All the best. - viking1MemberThank you all! It's DONE! I went last night to a nice salon, took a little cake with me as they ply you with coffee. The young lass was brilliant as had 2 chemo clients. She showed me pics of a number 1 and a number 2 razer cut. We went for the 2. I then had a was and gentle massage which relieved a lot of my pain. Back to the table and we realised more had fallen out during the wash! Did the number 1. Put my beanie on and amazingly felt very liberated. Last night I had trouble sleeping on the spikes despite trying 2 beanies and then nothing. So I will actually be glad when it all drops out. Now entering the phase of turbans, scarves and a trip to the free wig library. Will enjoy that! xxx
- AfraserMemberI didn't shave my hair as my scalp was very uncomfortable, just cut it very short. Discomfort ended when the hair went!
- UnicornkissesMember@viking1 shaving it will stop the painful feeling for some reason. My hairdresser shaved mine to the skin and it was instant relief. It wasn't painful for me to have it done, though she cried all through it.
I then slept with a handtowel on my pillow to catch the little hair splinters that continued to fall out for a while. - ZoffielMemberYeah, when I starting losing my hair during AC it felt like it was being pulled out by the roots. Nasty, but it settled after a few days when I clipped it super short (which also helped reduce the mess)
Hair loss during TC was painless. I was expecting the phantom hair pulling thing, but it just gave up and dropped out after I clipped it. Well, most of it dropped out. I ended up with this odd monks tonsure sort of 'do' that persisted growing. I just shaved it, I'm strange enough, thanks, without weirdo bristle on my noggin. - viking1MemberSorry for yet another post ... I haven't shaved yet and hair is on the way out. One side of my head feels like I banged it on a wall it's so painful. The other side is okay. Is this common? So sore. Wondering if the shave will be painful as painful to touch.
- viking1MemberRe hair loss I have used these products in the past for thinning hair. The hair salon looked at my scalp with a special magnifying tool before and after use. In the before I had one hair in each follicle and in the after two to three! It's expensive but if you want to play with it when you've finished your treatments here is the link: http://www.kerastase.com.au/en-au/hair-care-new-specifique-anti-hair-loss If you are in Western Australia, Maurice Meade are into this product and very helpful. But I will wait till my chemo's done with!
- viking1MemberLol my butt has flattened with age. I was being polite ... it's my IBS bouts of constipation and diarrhoea that have been my main concern. Trying all new things plus diet but the tears are causing tears plus below vagina tear that doesn't want to heal. Chemist gave me movicol and a cream that you can also insert that heals and numbs. Will see how it goes. Feel like I need a soft cloud to sit on! Oh and they suggested baby wipes. I also take multiflora am and pm. So I'm up s)-# creek, but I do have a paddle!
