HAIR LOSS

YIKES.  I’m losing my hair.  :'(

I’m cold capping -  I know hair still falls out with this , but my hair is thin and I don’t have a lot to lose.
My family says  you can’t tell , but I CAN and it sucks. And I hate having  hair  stick to my clothes and brush and my face and hang down from my scalp. I know this happens with the chemo, I just need to vent!!!
Does it ever stop?!!!!
AAAAAAARGH

  • Me too. Showers are awesome and no hair in the summer is very pleasant.
  • You know, once I got over the shock of losing my hair I enjoyed it. It was so easy. Quick wash of my bald head in the shower and quick pat dry and I was done! I wore little stretchy caps or nothing. So easy. Which was great because I was so tired from my treatment.  It grew back once treatment ended.

    Just another point of view.
  • Thanks kmakm for your beautiful words.  I’m trying to go zen I’m trying I promise! ;)

Sister, yeah I have an old man bald spot too.  Eeeeeek.

    Thanks lrb and kezmusc.
That really helps to know it slows a bit...I feel like at this rate it’ll be gone in no time!
Im having my 3rd of 4 AC on Friday. Then 12 taxol.
Does it still fall out on taxol?
Second treatment I was a bit wiser to push it down on my head .....

    Pattij Hahaha ;)
  • Hi @Caz1

Scary isn't it?   How many treatments have you had? It's actually kind of amazing the amount of hair you have.  It keeps its normal shedding routine plus the extra, so if you are like me, my hair sheds a lot anyway so add the chemo shedding on top of that and wow, there's hair every where.  It backed off a lot after the second treatment and slowed again once I finished the AC and went on to taxol.  It's distressing when you can see perfectly healthy strands of hair coming out.
I was sure it wasn't going to make it.  It was even shedding, and nobody really could tell.  I could because you can feel that it's thinnner and the one time I didn't have the cap quite straight I lost those little bits that sit in front of your ears.  I didn't realise how much had actually gone until it started to grow back. Keep going lovely, keep that cap shoved down regularly on to your scalp.  It will slow down.
    xoxoxoxo
  • @kezmusc, did you feel like that at all

@Caz1, I'm pretty sure @kezmusc has a photo story. Search this site for discussions mentioning cold caps/cold capping. I think she may also have something on the Paxman website

Using cold caps or not, it is distressing. Vent all you need
  • It's distressing when you go to all of that trouble and it's shedding.  I ended up with a bald strip and found that too hard to bear so gave up on the cold cap.  In the end, it's up to you whether you feel that it's worth it.
  • So sorry @Caz1, it sucks. As you say there's nothing for it. The only way through this is to go all zen on it. You know, a bit of ' it's only hair, it'll grow back'. It just takes that unforceable thing, time. Big hug lovely, K xox
