Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- JJ70MemberMy saddest and most difficult follicle challenge has been my eyelashes, more so than my head funny enough!
I have found it hard not having lashes. I like wearing eyeliner, feel naked without it and without lashes I have found it doesn't stay on long, so I have been walking around feeling naked a lot!
But just look at my little 'ole lashes busting a move now.....sorry the photo is a bit full on, but I had to get in close to find them! - JJ70MemberI had mine tattooed on before chemo on the advice of a BC survivor. I am glad I took her up on it. As an 80's teenager, mine were always over-plucked, so with or without BC, this has improved them. My eyebrows are patchy and where the hair is gone, the tatooing at least fills the space with some resemblance of colour and texture. it did hurt a bit, but worth it I think. I think I will probably keep going back and getting it 'touched up every year, as they recommend.
If you decide to get it done, check out some reputable places in your city as the prices can vary. I was quoted up to $1200 by some glam place in Cottesloe here in Perth and ended up paying $450 for a reputable fully qualified cosmetic tatooist who runs her own business. She is going to do my nipple tat as well...whenever that is on the cards in the future! - SisterMemberI was having to colour mine beforehand anyway!
- kmakmMember@Sister Oh dear, I shall stop whingeing. At least I have something to whinge about... Turtles are beautiful and long living, with or without eyebrows. Have you thought about something semi-permanent or permanent? Someone here said they never really come back to their former glory. I'll be looking into some reinforcing pigment should that come to pass.
- SisterMemberI'd be glad to see anything @kmakm I'm down to guessing where they were when I draw them on! And I refuse to go out looking like a turtle.
- kmakmMemberSo today I was annoyed by my eyebrows. I continue to lose hair from the outer half of both, like, almost all of them, but today had to pluck strays from underneath! The inner quarter on the left that I lost overnight a while back, has just started to grow back; there are lots of tiny baby hairs. My eyebrows are a motheaten mess, they are utterly bonkers!
- kmakmMember@JJ70 Love that skirt!
