Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- JJ70MemberYep...same deal here Steph!
- Kiwi_AngelMemberHas anyone else noticed this?? After chemo the hair on my legs, underarms and lady garden grew back at an exponential pace and I just about needed a week whacker to deal with it. Now I’m on tamoxifen and officially menopausal it is all growing so slow and I only need to shave about every 3 weeks (not that I’m complaining)
- Patti_JMemberHave just been to my local shopping centre. The young man who served me had the most beautiful eyelashes, brows and eyes. Why do some men get these? I had severe eyelash envy!

- JJ70MemberSeems like poor lil' hair follicles were terrified of big badass chemo and are still scared and reluctant to return. Don't blame 'em one iota.
- AfraserMember6 years on there is very little armpit hair - but that could also just be ageing (everything else seems to be, so....). Leg hairs are definitely less obvious. Hairs on chin alive and well, BUT - reference to the thread on being told you are looking well and glowing skin - my blemish prone skin was vastly improved by chemo, the improvement has remained even when the chin hairs (pimple fodder) returned. No idea why. Take the benefit and run.
- JJ70MemberMy hair growth in all regions seems slower...legs noticeably so too Kate.
- SoldierCrabMemberYes I am still like that 6 yrs later ..... definite positive for me waxing is every 8wks and still very light in amounts of hair around
LEFT side affected no hairs maybe once every 6 months she plucks out one hair on that side.... - kmakmMemberIt's warm in Melbourne today so I'm in shorts. I had a shower when I got home from ExMed, and thought I'd run the razor over my legs and armpits. I realised that I hadn't shaved my armpits since 29th August! There was really very little hair in either, but especially the right one (my tumour was in the right boob). A few longish single strands that had clearly been growing since August, but remarkably little. Has a sentinel node biopsy, a wide local excision, a re-excision for margins, chemo, and a double mastectomy and reconstruction done for my armpit hair for good? If so I'll take that as a positive thanks! Or will it eventually regain it's hirsute glory?! I also don't seem to be growing as much leg hair as before. Has this happened to anyone else?
- kmakmMember@Sister Fantastic! So liberating.
Have a good week at work dear!
