Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- Blossom1961MemberI think I got to he newbie receptionist at the clinic today. She looked at me then at my picture on the monitor and said "ooh, you had such lovely hair. I hope it grows back the same for you. Sometimes it grows back different"
Just as well I am blasé about my hair or I would have been really upset. The receptionist next to her tried to make up for it by compliments galore but my mind was just thinking about some of the women I have met at the clinic that were devastated when they lost their hair. I was imagining the devastation they would have felt if she said that to them. Fortunately the receptionist next to her picked up on the faux pas and will say something to her later. - SisterMemberPet spider is so much cooler @primek
- primekMember@JJ70 Yes I knew what you meant haha. But relax its just an orange poncho I'd taken off as too hot in the car rather than a scary orange 8 legged freak.
- JJ70MemberHa...that should say furry...not fury... :D
- arpieMember@primek - I LOVE the new look - short really suits you! And the smiles are infectious!! I am smiling back! ;)
- kmakmMemberLove it @primek! Seriously, I think it's a really good haircut and suits you so well. Fab.
@JJ70 Lol! - JJ70Member@primek I love your new do too! But look out for that massive, fury orange spider on your right shoulder!! YEEK! :D
- jennyssMemberDear @survivor2017, I too had 'chemo curls'. I had already decided to keep my hair short after having long straight hair all my life. After my third buzz cut (no. 6) and 6 months post chemo, the curls were gone to be replaced by the finger in the electric light socket look!
- SisterMemberLove the new do @primek
- primekMember@survivor2017 I ended up with a really horrid bad hair perm look. It grew out initially from white funky to hideous steely bits in curly hair. I tried for months with straightening etc. then saw pics of myself and decided it was coming off. I went for a choppy short look. And use a wildstyles cream to give it some hold. I then had some blonde highlights which were a bit yellow and recently have had just more white put it and going for an asymmetrical cut. 2 years on my curls have settled on top. I never had any at the sides but have some still at the back. My original colour hasn't returned but I'm okay with it now....I actually dud some counselling around it. Keeping tbe horrid hair was just reminding me of what else I had lost. The change was embracing me as I am now.
