Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- JJ70Member@kmakm I have the low down from my hairdresser!
Apparently the soft bum-fluff hair will harden up. She suggested using a product from Sebastian called Potion 9. Strengthens hair follicles. I have been using Scalp Serum - smells nice....natural jojoba and other essential oils good for hair growth. Will post piccies... - JJ70MemberMy hair didn't grow back on Taxol, but I hear for some, it does.
- Kiwi_AngelMember@Sister - kind of like this but not quite as sparse - I have a bit of a Donald trump combover at the top and mine is slightly longer :D
- SisterMemberI had to google the movie - good look!
- Kiwi_AngelMemberSince doing the cold cap I currently look like one of the hillbilly characters out of that horror movie The Hills have Eyes!! I think when my hair starts to grow back and the sparse scalp patches fill in I will probably cut off my sad excuse for a ponytail and go short - I don’t think I have had short hair since my mid 20’s.
- SisterMemberI think taxol can cause another lot of fallout but who knows - my hair hasn't done what it was supposed to do on this regime.
- Patti_JMemberWhen I was having I.V. Paclitaxel, which is a Taxol, I started losing my hair at the end of the second week.
In two weeks' time, 19 weeks after I finished I.V. chemo., I will be having my first haircut since last September. I am so excited! Going to the hairdresser is one of my favourite things to do. I have had so many different hairstyles: short, long, curly, shaved at the sides, blonde, red, black, brown, streaked. - EastmumMemberSo from what I'm hearing from a lot of you is that hair starts growing back during taxol? Which means that if I only have 3 more AC treatments left (I'm doing 4 of them 2 weeks apart, so 8 weeks in total - then 12 weekly taxols) and my hair is expected to fall out around the 2-3 week mark - that means after just 5-6 weeks my hair will already start growing back? Jeez Louise - so unfair on the one hand and so good to hear on the other!
- kmakmMemberSome excellent advice there @JJ70, thank you. I have no idea how to track down a good cosmetic tatooist, I might start with my breastcare nurse.
I did raise with my breast surgeon yesterday my eyelashes being ripped out by the tape applied to my eyes in the operation. He paid attention and said he'd look into it. I hope he does. It's a little thing but it'd be easy to considerate on this front.
Here's my denuded lower eyelid, it had a full array before the operation... - JJ70MemberYou can see the eyebrow tatooing well in this photo too. x
