Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- JJ70MemberShit hey Kate.......still I'd rather have facial hair and live to 80 than have the BIG C come back for another go at me! Might have to borrow my hubby's razor or find me a good beautician!
- kmakmMember@JJ70 The average age of menopause in Australia is 51. I am 51 (until Sunday anyway!) and while definitely peri-menopausal was still chugging along when I was diagnosed. My oncologist said it was a toss up between Tamoxifen and an AI and asked me which one I wanted (ffs!)... To which I answered, you're the expert, I want the one which will give me the best chance of seeing 80. So she said as I was currently in menopaise duecto chemo, the AI was ahead by a nose. So I start Letrozole on Friday. Dreading it. On the enormously long list of side effects is increased facial hair and thinning head hair. You can't win!
- kmakmMember@JJ70 Thanks darl!
Not to be a downer but it just occurred to me that increased facial hair is a menopause symptom... I presume chemo knocked off your periods (it did mine). But you're a bit younger than me so they may return. Had your onc said anything about that? - kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" Yes, I had a lot of post chemo hair eyelash and eyebrow loss. Though the eyelashes were assisted by inconsiderate eye taping during my operation...
@JJ70 I've now got eyelash regrowth coming through. The baby ones are making the ones that hung on look enormously long! Haven't tried mascara yet. Maybe next Sunday on my birthday. - kmakmMember@JJ70 I think this is normal. Most of us have this fuzz but daily wear and tear softens and flattens it. It mostly falls out with chemo and then the regrowth is all fresh and bouncy. I've got it too. Give it time to settle down.
Are you going to grow your hair straight out or trim it in the hopes of something better coming through? - Kiwi_AngelMember@JJ70 I am wi seeing what will continue to happen to my body in the coming weeks and months.
