I had great success with the cap. However, about 12 days after chemo one I was walking through the shops and could literally feel the air con going through my hair. My scalp was hyper sensitive, putting a hat on hurt and yes it does feel like sore hair, which is quite an odd feeling. I had that bruised head feeling as well.
The super sensitivity and soreness lasted for about the first four treatments and then backed off a bit. The shedding started at about three weeks and continued throughout the AC treatment. It slowed down a lot on taxol.
Fine hair sometimes works better as the cap can get to your scalp easier than if you have really thick or curly hair.
Using the cap does add a bit more stress to the whole thing. You are so invested in this thing working that every piece of hair that falls you panic a bit. Makes for a long six months, although I got a lot more relaxed about the whole thing after treatment 4 and I still had a full head of hair.
