Cold cap with chemo to save hair!

@jintie, I  know where your comming from, and it is rather traumatic with the cap. I will stop the cap if it gets too much, but soldiering on for now. X

@beaglemum , Was your hair grey before or did the chemo do it? I had a trim before chemo but it doesnt look too good now. I wet the hair and put conditioner onit before hand, is that what you did? Wondering if theres anymore tricks we can use to preserve our hair. Blonde sounds good! 

I chose not to go with cold capping.  For me, it’s just hair and I didn’t want to be in the rooms any longer than I needed to.  

Hi @Hils  Congrats, great to hear you got through your first chemo and cold cap - and made it past those first 10 mins which are the worse - you do then get used to it.  and yes you can do this ! just think only 4 to go! 
I am 3 weeks past my last chemo and have already had a trim to tidy up my hair,  its still a bit thin where I lost some initially and has gone totally grey so I'm waiting for a few weeks and then I'm going blond as my hair dresser says to go back to dark will make the thinner bits stand out - so a new image on its way,  which isn't a bad thing.  So persevere  with the cold cap and good luck with  the next 4 rounds  xx

Well...made it through the first session of chemo with the cold cap on!😨
OH boy ....if I wasn't awake when I got there I sure was when I got that cap put on my head and got plugged in!! Thankgoodness you told me to make it passed the first 10 minutes, I  must have counted the seconds lol! With the help of my daughter and then hubby keeping me company I made it through 3 hours of chemo and 5 hours of cold cap! One session down and four to go..... I can do this❄☃️❄☃️❄!

The first is the worst because it's unknown. It's unlikely to be as awful as you anticipate, because things seldom are. It's the unknown that chills us. Grotty but doable is most likely how you'll find it.

Thanks for the tips everyone. D day is monday, and I must say I'm not looking forward to the cap or the chemo! But I guess its just another episode of this journey and has to be done. Woke up this morning and had slushing fluid sounds under the second mastectomy scar.....if its not one thing its another! So off to an appointment at the breast clinic tomorrow, hopefully it wont be too bad and need syringing! I hope you've all had a nice day, I relaxed in bed this morning listening to my hubby doing the vacuuming....dont hear that too often! I'll have to have more lie ins!!  :)

I tried but it didn't work well enough for me to continue. So after two goes I ditched it. Make sure you press it down as tight as possible onto your scalp. Good luck! K xox

@Hils, you can do it and as you said, what have you got to lose by trying?  You are already so brave with what you have gone through.  I hope you continue getting better <3
